I think vbulletin.org should make users mark hacks as installed before they can download the files for the hack. I was looking through some peoples hacks and i saw that mostly the amount of downloads is about 600% more than the amount of installs

No, vB.org will not force

How about this idea...

A user who has downloaded a hack but hasn't clicked "Installed" for X number of days gets a private message telling them that they have downloaded such-and-such hack and if they wish to track updates to click "Installed". Then it would say "If you have no intentions of using this hack or tracking updates please ignore this thread and delete it if you wish."

I think we should just have leech stats: x number of installs required for x number of downloads :p

I always click installed if I'm using a hack, but sometimes it happens that the hack won't work with others I already have...so, marking 'installed' if I'm not even using it doesn't really make sense, does it?

Pipe down end-user! You'll take what we give you and you'll like it! :p

This subject has been brought up many times before; Essentially, we will not force anyone to "Install" a modification...

This is more or less what is planned for sometime later in the year - in fact, part of the code was installed in the last update.

As Chris says, we will never force people to mark as installed, all we can do is encourage them to do so.
