First off, thanks goes out to Sniper for giving me permission to modify his Mood Manager and release a Sports Manager.

Is currently not compatible with vBAdvanced (Unless someone wants to come out with a fix)

What is this? Basically its just like the Mood Manager but with sports. :)

Current Sports:
FIFA: International Federation of Association Football
MLB: Major League Baseball
NASCAR: National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing
NBA: National Basketball Association
NCAA: National Collegiate Athletic Association
NFL: National Football League
NHL: National Hockey League
Premier: English FA Premiership League Soccer in Uk

Looks good man. Since my forum goes pretty much for one team, I have done something similar, but with customized jerseys. Link (http://www.glorifythepast.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16679). I probably have made roughly 300 different jerseys.

Ok...strange problem. My ftp has a fit whenever I try to upload images that have spaces in the image name. Whenever presented with this 'problem', I need to open each image in Animation Shop and rename the image by removing that space...does anyone know an easier way around this? Aside from giving up, I mean...I'd really love to be able to install this! I love football!!

Well I can make renaming them a bit easier, you shouldn't have to open any type of program to change the name. Open the containing folder and you can either click twice on the name (not a fast double click) or right click and choose "rename".

Ok, I broke down and hurried things up a little and released all the other teams/sports. Enjoy

To those who installed the NFL Team Manager, re-download and re-import the XML and set "Allow Overwrite" to yes. Fixed a small bug with displaying images in it.

It won't render the image unusable? Cuz that what I'm afraid of if I'd attempt that little maneuver.

Same here...FileZilla. It happened to me with the Country Flag mod. I got 'critical transfer error' with those image names with spaces...they wouldn't upload until I took out the spaces.:confused:

I just tried it with this...same story...all the images got that critical transfer error

To work in vBadvanced you probably just need to add the variable name to the vBa options. For example with mood manager I had to add $mood (I don't remember if that's exactly it, but for arguments sake) to the list of variables to parse in vBa. :)

just edit all filenames to an underscore _ in place of the spaces then do the same edits in the product that calls the images. That I'm sure will work for you, but I think you should talk to your host to see why its rejecting files with spaces in them.

Can we get this as a full package?

What I mean is let people install it and people can choose one team, from all the sports images (NFL, NHL, etc)

Some people like NASCAR only or NHL only, and the full package would not mean having to install all the different ones with many drop downs.

One drop down, for all categories.

Anyone by chance have a screen shot of the multiple dropdowns and postbit area?

I guess I could just add the images to the regular Mood manager, but I would like to have one for moods and one for all the sports.

Greek Wizard
04-11-2007, 01:13 PM
I guess from the lack of screen shot in the main post, I assumed the images would be like the Mood Manager, but instead I just noticed they are the exact same images from this hack:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=108771

Does that author know you used those images?

Forget about what i said in the above post, not interested in installing it now since I already have the vbPlaza and Sports Icons add-on.

The variable is not right, change to nascardriver. I think it was nascarteam in the orginal text file.

Try this change, it should work.

### Step 1 ###

Upload the NASCAR Teams to /images/nascar/

### Step 2 ###

Install the product via the vBulletin Product Manager.

### Step 3 ###

In the postbit/postbit_legacy template

### Find ###

<div>
$vbphrase[posts]: $post[posts]
</div>

### Under it Add ###

<if condition="!empty($post[nascardriver])">
<div>
$vbphrase[my_nascardriver]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nascar/$post[nascardriver].gif" border="0" />
</div>
</if>

### Step 4 ###

n the navbar template

### Find ###

$vbphrase[private_messages_nav]

### Under it Add ###

<br />$usernascardriver

You can place " $usernascardriver " anywhere you want in the navbar template to show the
NASCAR Teams dropdown list.

### Step 5 ###

In the MEMBERINFO template

### Find ###

$customfields

### Under it Add ###

<if condition="!empty($userinfo[nascardriver])">
<strong>$vbphrase[my_nascardriver]:</strong>
<br />
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nascar/$userinfo[nascardriver].gif" border="0" />
</if>

### Step 6 ###

Admincp -> vBulletin Options -> [Redline] - NASCAR Team Manager

Here you can enable or disable the NASCAR Teams manager and add the teams you want in this format

1 Martin Truex Jr
2 Kurt Busch
3 Dale Earnhardt
5 Kyle Busch
6 Mark Martin

Also there are options to enable auto edits (if you did not do the above edits), which
edit your templates for you. (NOT SUGGESTED TO DO THE AUTO EDITS IF YOU HAVE CUSTOM STYLES!!)

Here's what I did to make everything look good in the navbar and postbit template. It's probably not coded correct but it worked.

postbit template:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Find:
------
<tr>
<if condition="$show['avatar']"><td class="alt2" valign="top"><a href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$post[userid]"><img src="$post[avatarurl]" $post[avwidth] $post[avheight] alt="<phrase 1="$post[username]">$vbphrase[xs_avatar]</phrase>" border="0" /></a></td></if>

** you probably won't have the valign="top", I added this to make sure the avatar was on top.

Add above:
--------------

<!-- /show teams -->
<tr> <div align="left">
<if condition="$post['nflteam']">
<!-- current team -->
<fieldset><legend>My Teams</a></legend>
<if condition="!empty($post[nflteam])">

</fieldset></if>
</div></tr>
<!-- /show Teams -->

**doesn't include the English FA Premiership League Soccer in Uk

navbar template:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Find:
------

<!-- breadcrumb, login, pm info -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">

This is a really good modification red. I'm Incog btw. Anywhoo, theres only one problem with it, the images are designed for light colored board styles ...my site has a dark style and the white edges of the images look raggedy. It would be great if someone could make the NFL images fit nicely on a dark skinned forum for me.

Installed thanks.

I've cleaned this up a bit I'll post code later, it's getting late.

I added the ability for users to select whether they see the icons in posts or not in their USER CP (similar to letting people decide if they want to see avatars or not; not everyone wants to see images).

I've added alt tags for the icons and remove the text next to them so it takes up less room in the postbit as well IMO as being more informative anyways.

And I've moved the selection for the teams to the User CP (people don't change teams often, so no need to see the place to select it on every single page load, plus it's just a lot of extra data for no real reason).

What I would do if I were you if just add all the teams to each and every drop down list and all the icons to each folder (yucky solution but would work.

Then change the values of the my phrases (like my_nhlteam, etc...) to something like "My First Team", "My Second Team", etc... instead of "My NHL team" etc...

This uses the instructions found with this product except I changed the 3 templates that are modified to give it a look and functionality that better suited my site. It also makes use of a custom profile field to give users the ability to turn this on/off.

OK, for the way I did it: No support offered, use at own risk, yadda yadda yadda

In User Profile Fields from the Admin CP add a new field of type "Single-Selection Radio Button". First line value of Yes second line value of No
This doesn't need to be seen in the member list, nor searchable. So you probably want to turn those options off when creating it.
This is to let people turn this feature on and off. I display it on edit profile but wherever if you want is fine. Once it's saved look at the manager page for profile fields and you'll see it's named fieldX where X is a number. Remember this for later.

In the USERCP template find:
<!-- ############## END SUBSCRIBED FORUMS ############## -->
</if>

After that add:

<!-- YOUR TEAMS -->

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<thead>
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="2">

</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody id="collapseobj_usercp_forums" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_usercp_forums]">
<tr align="center" valign="bottom">
<td class="alt1">

<div width="100%"><span class="navbar"> $usernflteams&nbsp$usernhlteams&nbsp$usermlbteams
<br />
$usernbateams&nbsp$userncaateams&nbsp$usernascardrivers&nbsp$userfifateams&nbsp$userpremierteams </span></div>

</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<br />

<!-- END OF YOUR TEAMS -->

In your PostBit template (postbit_legacy for me since I use the classic posbit look) find:

<div>$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon] $post[skypeicon]</div>

After that add:

<if condition="$bbuserinfo['field21'] != 'No'">
<br />
<div class="smallfont">
<if condition="!empty($post[nhlteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nhl/$post[nhlteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nhlteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nflteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nfl/$post[nflteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nflteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nbateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nba/$post[nbateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nbateam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[mlbteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/mlb/$post[mlbteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[mlbteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[ncaateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/ncaa/$post[ncaateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[ncaateam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nascardriver])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nascar/$post[nascardriver].gif" border="0" / alt="$post[nascardriver]" ></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[fifateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/fifa/$post[fifateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[fifateam]"/></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[premierteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/premier/$post[premierteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[premierteam]" /></if>
</div>
</if>

Now, look at the 1st line of that code. See where it says field21? That needs to match up to the fieldX you created earlier.

In MEMBERINFO find:

$customfields

After that add:

<if condition="!empty($userinfo[nhlteam])">
<br >
<strong>$vbphrase[my_nhlteam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nhl/$userinfo[nhlteam].gif" border="0" />

np...

Let me know if you have any problems with it.

I've also gone in and edited out the FIFA part and put in a Misc category. I let people send me images for icons for teams they follow as long as I know it's serious. But I have no problem linking a CFL team or an AHL team or whathaveyou for the diehards.

But that's all doable through the Admin CP.

Atlanta Hawks

Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks
Denver Nuggets
Detroit Pistons
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Memphis Grizzlies
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
New Jersey Nets
New Orleans Hornets
New York Knicks
Orlando Magic
Philadelphia 76ers
Phoenix Suns
Portland Blazers
Sacramento Kings
San Antonio Spurs
Seattle Sonics
Torono Raptors

I followed the instructions below, but what I can't seem to do is get rid of the drop down menus by the private messages in the navbar. I can turn them off via VB Options, but it still seems to over ride the user profile options. I think becuase I let it auto-edit my navbar template, I can't pull that code out of there. HELP!

<!-- ############## END SUBSCRIBED FORUMS ############## -->
</if>

After that add:

<!-- YOUR TEAMS -->

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<thead>
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="2">
Team Manager
</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody id="collapseobj_usercp_forums" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_usercp_forums]">
<tr align="center" valign="bottom">
<td class="alt1">

<div width="100%"><span class="navbar"> $usernflteams&nbsp$usernhlteams&nbsp$usermlbteams
<br />
$usernbateams&nbsp$userncaateams&nbsp$usernascardrivers&nbsp$userfifateams&nbsp$userpremierteams </span></div>

</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<br />

<!-- END OF YOUR TEAMS -->

In your PostBit template (postbit_legacy for me since I use the classic posbit look) find:

<div>$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon] $post[skypeicon]</div>

After that add:

<if condition="$bbuserinfo['field21'] != 'No'">
<br />
<div class="smallfont">
<if condition="!empty($post[nhlteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nhl/$post[nhlteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nhlteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nflteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nfl/$post[nflteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nflteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nbateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nba/$post[nbateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[nbateam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[mlbteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/mlb/$post[mlbteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[mlbteam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[ncaateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/ncaa/$post[ncaateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[ncaateam]" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nascardriver])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nascar/$post[nascardriver].gif" border="0" / alt="$post[nascardriver]" ></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[fifateam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/fifa/$post[fifateam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[fifateam]"/></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[premierteam])">
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/premier/$post[premierteam].gif" border="0" alt="$post[premierteam]" /></if>
</div>
</if>

Now, look at the 1st line of that code. See where it says field21? That needs to match up to the fieldX you created earlier.

In MEMBERINFO find:

$customfields

After that add:

<if condition="!empty($userinfo[nhlteam])">
<br >
<strong>$vbphrase[my_nhlteam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nhl/$userinfo[nhlteam].gif" border="0" />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[nflteam])">
<br />
<strong>$vbphrase[my_nflteam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nfl/$userinfo[nflteam].gif" border="0" />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[ncaateam])">
<br />
<strong>$vbphrase[my_ncaateam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/ncaa/$userinfo[ncaateam].gif" border="0" />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[mlbteam])">
<br />
<strong>$vbphrase[my_mlbteam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/mlb/$userinfo[mlbteam].gif" border="0" />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[premierteam])">
<br />
<strong>$vbphrase[my_premierteam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/premier/$userinfo[premierteam].gif" border="0" />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[fifateam])">
<strong>$vbphrase[my_fifateam]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/premier/$userinfo[fifateam].gif" border="0" />
<br />
</if>
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[nascardriver])">
<strong>$vbphrase[my_nascardriver]:</strong> <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/premier/$userinfo[nascardriver].gif" border="0" />
<br />
</if>

And that's all I had to do . Really it's just the way it was done via the product just with different formatting in different places.

I don't use the NASCAR or the FIFA so but my site using this can be found here:

Can anyone help? I modded this mod so that the drop down menus go from the navbar to the user profile area. However, when I turn them off in VB Options, it doesn't recognize the selection you make and still displays whatever you selected in the navbar.

Hey everyone, I'm home on leave but only for a couple more days. Thank you all for the positive feedback and suggestions. I have VERY limited access to the internet since I've joined the military but hopefully in about 4 months, providing I'm not in Iraq, I will be able to update all of my modifications.........and my website. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anybody.

Here's what I did to make everything look good in the navbar and postbit template. It's probably not coded correct but it worked.

postbit template:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Find:
------
<tr>

<!-- /show teams -->
<tr> <div align="left">
<if condition="$post['nflteam']">
<!-- current team -->
<fieldset><legend>My Teams</a></legend>
<if condition="!empty($post[nflteam])">
$vbphrase[my_nflteam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nfl/$post[nflteam].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nbateam])">
$vbphrase[my_nbateam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nba/$post[nbateam].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[mlbteam])">
$vbphrase[my_mlbteam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/mlb/$post[mlbteam].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nhlteam])">
$vbphrase[my_nhlteam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nhl/$post[nhlteam].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[ncaateam])">
$vbphrase[my_ncaateam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/ncaa/$post[ncaateam].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[nascardriver])">
$vbphrase[my_nascardriver]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/nascar/$post[nascardriver].gif" border="0" /></if>
<if condition="!empty($post[fifateam])">
$vbphrase[my_fifateam]: <img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/fifa/$post[fifateam].gif" border="0" /></if>
</fieldset></if>
</div></tr>
<!-- /show Teams -->

It's not best code, maybe someone can fix it and make it better.

Thank you for this. Great positioning. The only thing to be fixed is that line in red, but I guess you just mistyped it ;) I believe it has to be with

<if condition="$show['member']">

But again, great positioning and I'm glad I found your post. :)

Cheers everyone! :up:

I hope someone could help me here because I honestly have no clue what went wrong. It isn't anything major, my sports manager works perfectly, but here is the thing:

Ever since I added this:

<!-- My Teams -->
<if condition="$show['member']">
<tr width="100%"><span class="navbar"><center>$userfifateams&nbsp$userpremierteams&nbsp$usernflteams&nbsp$usernbateams&nbsp$userncaateams&nbsp$usermlbteams&nbsp$usernhlteams&nbsp$usernascardrivers&nbsp</center> </phrase></if>
</if>
<!-- My Teams -->

above this:

<!-- breadcrumb, login, pm info -->

two of my category strips ('who's online' and 'chatbox') changed font colour into alternative one, while the other ones remained like before.

I've tried and went through all CSS attributes and my Category Strips CSS is fine too. But again, everything else is ok except those two (maybe elsewhere too but I haven't noticed yet).

And if I remove <!-- My Teams --> from navbar template - everything goes back to normal.

Check out the image. I pointed at the spots.

Thanks beforehand to whoever might have the solution for this. :o

Hey, Redline!

Thank you so much for the response!

Sorry for misunderstanding. I meant when the entire code is placed. I can't find the solution and I've tried few things myself but have no clue. CSS attributes are just fine. I never touched those.

Thank you again and looking forward to hear back from you.

Btw, mod is absolutely FANTASTIC! Sits great in my forum :)
