Just wondering is there a mod any1 knows of that will let you run oike multiple forums??

Like her at vbulletin.org at the top it has forums with all the discussions forums etc then it has a seperate tab for articles and mods and styles etc thats exactly what I want as I want to run a seperate set of forums but that are joint to my site.

Is there a mod for this?? or do I have to buy a seperate vbulleting lisence??

Any help wud be greatly appreciated,

Display Order of the section header to "0". Then just use forumdisplay.php?f=FORUMID to access.

Create a master category with sub categories, and sub forums. Set the display order of this master category to 0 and link to the forum as Dismounted said.

There are not many steps. I outlined all the steps needed to accomplish this in my above post.

1. create master category - set display order to 0 in forum manager
2. create sub cats adn forums
3. somewhere on the site link to teh master category.

basically he is saying.

1. First make a Category in in your forums manager, dont make a forum make a catergory ok?

2. Inside the same catergory put in forums and more forums as much as you like.

3. Now have a link on your website which is linking to your first catergory we make in step 1, ok? when people click on link they will see your number 1 catergory with different forums.

Now you want another forum another page like vb.org yes?

do the same steps as above ^^ but make the catergory order 2, make sure your second catergory order no. is different to your first catergory id ok? then link this also.

Then you have two different forums :D and one license :D

Thank you :)

Thats great but how do you add the tabs like here at vbulletin.org like the tabs at the top that link to the forums??

Any idea

forumdisplay.php?f=FORUMID

Tabs are just linking images...

If you set the forum to 0, then it no longer shows up on the jump menu or (more importantly) allows you to perform an advanced search on that forum. Is there any fix for that?

Thanks!

Setting Display Order to 0, should not prevent the forum from showing up in the advanced search.

Infact, it will. You'll need to code a few plugins to make it show up. I found this out from my own site.

If that is the case, then i would report it to the bug tracker at vb.com

It's not a bug, as display order = 0 means don't display it. So it doesn't display it. It's correct behaviour.

Showing in the search should be controlled by 'Can Search this Forum', so you could argue if it is correct not to show when display order = 0 on the advanced search page.

Edit: Just had a discussion with the dev's about this. Their stance is at this time that display order = 0 will make it invisible everywhere, so not a bug. Just consistent.

I didn't think it was a bug. It seems reasonable for it to work that way.

Does anyone know a way to get around it though? I can't really use a tabbing system if they can't also use the advanced searches for those forums.

This is what I use, please don't re-distribute it though.

Search Menu - Hook: 'search_intro'
$forumid = INSERTFORUMID;
$forum =& $vbulletin->forumcache["$forumid"];

$optionvalue = $forumid;
$optiontitle = "$forum[depthmark] $forum[title_clean]";
if ($vbulletin->options['fulltextsearch'] AND !($vbulletin->userinfo['forumpermissions']["$forumid"] & $vbulletin->bf_ugp_forumpermissions['canviewthreads']))
{
$optiontitle .= '*';
$show['cantsearchposts'] = true;
}
$optionclass = 'fjdpth' . iif($forum['depth'] > 4, 4, $forum['depth']);

if (in_array($forumid, $vbulletin->GPC['forumchoice']))
{
$optionselected = 'selected="selected"';
$noforumselected = '';
}
else
{
$optionselected = '';
}

eval('$searchforumbits .= "' . fetch_template('option') . '";');

Forum Jump - Hook: 'forumjump'
$forumid = INSERTFORUMID;
$forum = $vbulletin->forumcache["$forumid"];

$optionvalue = $forumid;
$optiontitle = $prependchars . " $forum[title_clean]";

$optionclass = 'fjdpth' . iif($forum['depth'] > 4, 4, $forum['depth']);

if ($curforumid == $optionvalue)
{
$optionselected = 'selected="selected"';
$optionclass = 'fjsel';
$defaultselected = '';
}
else
{
$optionselected = '';
}

eval('$jumpforumbits .= "' . fetch_template('option') . '";');
