Can archiving be disabled?

...or can we at least dictate how many days must transpire before threads are archived?

I find that many thread subjects are duplicated on our site because the previous occurrence has slipped into the archive.

This may be a dumb question, but I'm new to this software.

Hey, thanks for the help and the welcome. I had assumed that this was just for the SEO features of the archive. I hadn't realized that this was for the whole thing.
