I have been bouncing this idea around in my head for awhile now and decided to leave it up to you guys as to whether I commit to it or not.
I have reworked a profiling system to work with vB for my WoW guild. I am currently working on adding some major functionality to it. To that end, would this be something that is wanted by the vBulletin community as an addon to use for your WoW Guild Websites?
The system, in it's fully functional form, would provide every bit of information about your guild and it's characters on the website. Things such as searchable professions, skills, patterns, etc. As well as individual character sheets in place of the profile (think the armory on worldofwarcraft.com).
These are just a few things that I have planned for my own guild's use.
Would the vBulletin community be interested in this if I converted it to an addon, and would any be willing to assist in the coding / testing of this?

I actually was wondering if there was an addon for the armory feature blizzard just did, and this thread came up when I searched.
What I was thinking, was perhaps when a user initially registers on a forum with this feature, they would have to put in what server their character is on, and it constructs an armory URL
http://thearmoryurl.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=ServerName&n=Username
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Wildhammer&n=Gary
Or, if you wanted to keep it simple the admin could define what server is included in the URL and just have it pull the username. Then, it could be added as a part of the template with the alliance or horde coat of arms as a clickable icon to the users armory page.
I'm sure that probably isn't what you had planned, but regardless of that I am always interested in what addons/mods people come out with for interfacing with WoW.
edit:
actually, i pretty much just did what I said via a postbit template edit, it needs some cleaning up, but it works for the most part.

The profiling system is actually a set of addons for both the guild master and the guild members. The guild members run one addon, and the Guild master runs two. Both addons drop into one .LUA file. It is this file that you upload whenever you are done playing wow.
Some may already be familiar with it, anyway, once done the profiling for vb would simply parse the profiling addon's saved variables and drop those into the DB, which vB would then pull to create the frontend for each individual caharacter, along with for the guild as a whole.
Currently I am using it to automate guild member registrations, so when a new member joins the guild, when I log out from that day and upload, that character's login is already created based on their guild rank. From there, if they are not a banker or "alt", then all their data will be accessible when they then upload in the future.
Hope this makes some sense, but while linking to the armory is one way of doing things, I prefer to have the information on the guild's website only, that way there is less of a security hazard, and it makes searching for individual recipes and what not a hell of a lot easier to code for.
One of the biggest things that we use it for is to keep track of who has what recipe for the guild. Works wonderfully for us.

The Armory can also be tapped into, if that helps in any way. I know that wowroster is working on implementing that into roster 2.0, and several signature generators have come out that pull info directly from the armory.
I don't know how it works, but I have seen it.

Funny that you mention WoWRoster, as it is their UniUploader / UniAdmin that I am coding around to get vB to play with. I thought about using WoWRoster as a port, but have since decided to use it only as a proof of concept due to the coding differences betwen both Roster and vB. It is my intention to make the vB version compatible with WoWRoster's, but with notable differences in implementation.
