I would like to see a marrage system (Married to: <User>) I would like to see it so:

You can only be married to one person,
It appers in the post bit (Married to: <username>
It appers in he spouces post bit

etc...

Is this possible?

From,

Si

Excuse me for double posting...

Also when someone wants to get married to someone, it comes in a drop downlist (When you click their name on the forums, in the postbit) and in their information (User Info)

Just an idea. I think it would be extremely popular!

if it would be popular, personally i would have find the request somewhere else already...

I think it would be extremely popular. With the people on my site. Possibly other people will want this mod too.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread.

But now vBulletin has Social Networking, isn't it possible, nay probable to have relationship status or a Other Half system, similar to bebo.com?

Just an idea...

Can't this be done with Custom Profile Fields (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/profile)?

It probably can be, Lynne. However, I think it would require that they both fill in usernames or userids for each other in a hidden profile field... Then there'd be a complicated checker to see if the users list each other... Not really worth stuffing into custom profile fields, I think. Sure it might be a faster way of accomplishing it, but it certainly wouldn't look good.

How hard can it be to make that?

Is it a case of not worth it, or can't be bothered to make...?

At the end of the day, what does it cost, to make...

Other Half: [1] [2]

[1] = a 10x10 image of their other half's avatar
[2] = Username, linked to user profile by link.

OR

Other Half: [2]

In the post bit?

A SMALL mod, that people might decide that they like?

No. It requires a bit more than that.

Like it sends a request to the person, or if they already have another half, they can't send/ receive requests unless you "Dump Em"

Seriously, is that hard?

I actually don't think it would be too hard (I would still use profile fields, but I'd add a few plugins too and probably an extra field in the user table). You'd just do a few checks at times that users input the data. So, you have the option of doing it yourself or waiting to see if anyone else is interested in doing it. I don't see it being something a lot of users need, so I don't know that you are going to find someone to make it for free for you.

That sounds a bit harsh to me Si... you can't expect people to do this just because you want them to, whether they can be "arsed" or not. If it's that important to you, you should maybe look into learning how to create it yourself rather than moaning at others because they don't want to/can't.

... whether they can be "arsed" or not. ...I had to look "arsed" up (Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=arsed)) since the 'old' meaning of the word (The Free Dictionary (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/arsed)) obviously does not apply with how it's apparently being used by today's kids.

No it just doesn't apply to me when I am half asleep.

I realise what I said was abit angered... I apologise completely for that.
I was just a bit frustrated when I saw that no one would want that.

Well, obviously it's not true, because I'd love that... Looks like I will need to make a paid request then.

Thanks, this thread might as well be locked then.

There is a secret admirer hack kicking around. Which might be suitable.

When I saw this thread i thought it may be a chance to implement the perfect marriages algorithm :p which would have been fun...

(essentially every user ranks users (eg 5) in order of preference. So you'd have a top 5 users that you'd like to marry... When the algorithm is run any pair of users that rank each other first are 'married' and removed from everyone's list. Moving the remaining people up one place. This is done till there are no reciprocal matches after that it becomes an interesting problem to find the best fit for the remaining users)

I'm with Lynn. Just make a profile field where someone places their spouse's username. Add a plugin to postbit_display_complete that checks to see if the user that is listed has that user in the spouse field. If it does, display it, otherwise don't.

Now that sounds like fun :)

arsed

Was it really bugging the Administrators/ Moderators that much that I had used the wrong grammar that they edited my posts like that? Lol. I'm sorry, but next time, just ask... I would of edited it out.

Like I have done, now.

And Spank, I wasn't saying that... Nor was I implying... I'm sorry about the way I came across... Slightly pi**ed off on that night, and it was very late... I apologise. I'm sorry.
