DESCRIPTION:
This is a Medals/Awards system. Admin can give members awards, and award icons will be displayed in member's profile, posts, as well as in a award list.

FEATURES:
In AdminCP
- Can Create/Edit/Delete/Reorder categories/sub-categories in ACP (with category name and description)
- Can Create/Edit/Delete awards in ACP (with Award Name, Description, Icon URL, Image URL)
- Can Move one (or all) award(s) from one category to another
- Can set some awards un-classified (not displayed for public)
- Can re-order awards in awards showcase
+ Issue awards to members, based on username or userid, with Issue Reason
+ Remove awards from members
- [1.2] Options to set number of awards displayed in postbit
- [1.2] Options to turn on/off showing award icon, images, award requests in awards list, awards icons in memberlist

Me too. Just wondering if there were many changes.

Not big changes. I released actually because people asking again and again for a version for 3.6.x, so I give out one.

beside some minor modification, there're few other changes:

- [2.1.3] Add a link "Give award to user" in admincp menu and change some link name.
- [2.1.3] Notify awarded user by email option
- Change "Issue reason" from input to textarea, so you can give more descriptive reason when giving award(s).
- Allow user to issue/remove awards in In ModCP (I myself dont like this, but it has been requested). Remember, no permission check in there yet, so anyone who can access ModCP can use it)



If you use the old one (2.1.2) without problem, you dont really need to upgrade.

Found the culprit! The Nova Awards was using that table. Lucky for me this is a very simple mod, so I just made a new table for it and changed the handful of instances where they were referring to it

I'm currently using your 3.5 version on my 3.6.5 vbulletin. How easy would it be to upgrade this to the new version without uninstalling the old one?

I'd like to keep it up-to-date incase of any future upgrades to this system.

I had to make a few template changes to get your 3.5 version to work with my current style so would hate to have to uninstall and reinstall the new version.

I'm not sure but by simply removing the GROUP BY in the product XML and replacing with a comma I was able to get it working.

What I did is simply remove the Group By altogether - no user will receive the same award twice so this should not be an issue (fingers crossed) - This has been quite a learning experience delving more into the vB code.

Great mod but I'm having a problem with moderators not being able to view the awards in the modcp. It's there because I can see it, but when they try to access it, they get "you do not have permission to use this page".

I can't find where I can edit their permissions. Only 2 moderators will have permission to issue awards.

ok, in 2.1.4, field type for award description and reason is changed to text, now you can put more stuff in there, but I am not guaranty about the template (if your long custom description would look nice on the pages.

No sorry, you mis-understood. I'm wondering which of your added templates needs to be edited to change it. Is it the award_showcase template?

Basically what I'm trying to do is change the way the awards are displayed in the post bit i.e remove the awards showcase box around them, have them display directly next to each other instead of spaced, and have them display automatically wrap 5 per line. Which template is it that controls the display? award_showcase?

There are a number of awards that are similar to the example one that comes with this MOD. The ones in the /gd/ directory are the ones that I really use [however only a small % of them].

Why template conditionals dont work in awards_bit template?

example:

How to fix it? I need use conditionals...

Question 2:

You save the award reason in the field issue_reason on table *award_user, but you dont offer a option to edit the reason by board admincp. Why?

Can you add this option? I just edited the reason directly in phpmyadmin.

I installed this wonderful awards (thank you very much...just what I needed) but I have a problem...when I go to give an award, the person I give it to...any of the boards they have posted in have an error for all to see...the error is a tad different for each posting, but you get the idea here:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /public/vbulletin/showthread.php(1095) : eval()'d code on line 15

But the second I remove the award, this error goes away.

Okay, I tried this on my forum, and it was great until I gave someone an award. Then, once I did, going into any topic they had posted in would cause an error, but their profile would display it fine. I can provide a photo if needed.

Basically what I'm trying to do is change the way the awards are displayed in the post bit i.e remove the awards showcase box around them, have them display directly next to each other instead of spaced, and have them display automatically wrap 5 per line. Which template is it that controls the display? award_showcase?

First you need to "unzip" the file that you downloaded. Then, if you look inside the "Docs" folder you'll see installation instructions. Follow them step by step.

Fix:

I recently downloaded this modification and installed it onto our forums. I followed the template editing to the word, however when I try to view someone's profile (let's say my own) I get a blank white page.

Suggestions:-

Define who can give awards exactly, by user ID (E.G: 1,3,4) - This will allow these users to give awards. This will also prevent admins having to give rights to 'every mod' to be able to give and remove awards.

In threads that are created, people who are allowed to give awards can see a quick link, which will automatically give the requesting user the badge (with predefined settings). E.G: Having an 'Automated Award Settings' section, which you decide whether the user automatically gets a notification PM etc etc.


In conjuntion, this is a brilliant MOD. Well done and thank you :]

You need to change either postbit or postbit_legacy depending on what your forum is set to.

I've used this before on my graphics and have been wanting to get it on my gaming site to give game awards (for contests in diablo, wow, etc). Only downloaded so far will install in a bit, I just have to create my custom awards first. ;)

Could you please make it possible for members to know about the different awards that are available in an area that they can readily access it should they desire to do so.

Can this area also have a recommend an award to someone area so that if someone wants to make a recommendation, they can.

Can we have a "Hall of Honor" to display those people who have won awards.

Can we also have something saying that we are prepared to make up a new award should there be a need recommended through PM to admins.

have medals displayed in their posts ?

Although the medals are clearly given in the admin cp
and showing as awarded on a particular date,
they even show up in each players user cp but not always
in the posts and threads...

This is a nice mod. Unfortunately, it crashed my site when this query was run repeatedly during a period of high load (23 times over, running between 78 and 208 seconds, as of just before I started killing them):

While I'm no MySQL expert, it seems that this attempts to copy the entirety of the post table to a temporary table, in my case about 1.5 million rows. I've tracked the query down to the showthread_query hook:

Apparently this fails to account for the possibility that $ids and $cache_postids are both empty. I have no idea why it would or would not be reasonable to account for that, because I don't know what either of those variables is, but at any rate, if they both are empty things are not very good. I've wrapped the whole thing in a conditional checking whether both are empty, just not setting anything if they both are. I'd appreciate any response.

I've got this mod working but I've got two items I need help fixing:

1) I need to re-arrange the order members are listed on the Awards page. They seem to be listed by MemberID # (order of registration) but I want them in Alphabetical order.

and

2) I got a database error when I tried to give an award to a member with an apostrophe in her name. I'm working on a fix but if someone has information on that it would be appreciated.

Oh, and btw, I corrected the English on the PM message. It should be "Congratulations" (with an "s") and "upon receiving" instead of "as you are receiving".

Well, that fixed the MA'AM problem - no more database error (Thanks again!) - BUT I'm still getting the mix up between 5peaches and MA'AM. Any ideas on that one?

Just so you understand, when I type in 5peaches and click SAVE it says "Give Award to MA'AM successfully" and then MA'AM shows on the award list. :confused:

ARGGGG !!! I am SUCH an idiot!!! I just realized that I'd been putting the "username" in both blanks, not understanding that the userid wasn't the name but the number! MA'AM is member #5 so that's why she was given the award. DUH!!

All I needed to do is leave the userid field blank and just put 5peaches in the username field.

Works perfectly now.

Probably not unless you have a large site, which could get slowed down until the issue I first reported here gets fixed. The other issue probably isn't a huge deal ― if you get weird errors when giving awards, try using user id's instead of usernames.

I actually modified the template code and create a table with a fixed width to display the awards in. They will automatically wrap to a new line if the number of awards exceed the width. IE: If your awards are 50 pixels wide and you want no more than 3 in a row, set the table size to a width of 160.

Here's a sample of how I display my ribbons (although it's in a considerably different place than the stock code).

I would like to be able to have two rows of awards for two categories. I'd like to know if it would be possible to get such a thing as this via paid custom work. I wouldn't need most of the bells and whistles - don't need it to show on the members list, don't need the PM, the showcase, the description, and so on - I just need two rows and two categories and the ability for Mods to give a specific user an award in a category. (One category would be acquired game pieces and would change constantly. The other would be icons for completed games.)

If this is anything you would consider doing, I'd appreciate a PM and a ballpark figure. If we're not actually allowed to ask things like this in here... mea culpa. If it makes any difference, I wouldn't be asking for exclusivity and would not care who else used it for free.

Hey, I currently have YAAS installed and I also have Psinoic Visions interactive profiles installed. The awards strectch my page because it is only in one half of the page, this only happens in internet explorer, not in fireworks. I was wondering if there is a way to make the awards flatten to say 4 per row and it works into columns like that.

Hi, At present when an award is given it will show at position number 2. Is it possible, and if so how - to make it show up at position number 1?

edit: Thanks to Toucan42, I found the frameset tag and all, I have the box and assorted text removed. Thanks for the help there.

For anyone wondering how to remove the awards showcase box in your post pit do the following:

- Go into your style/template manager
- Into the style you have the mod installed under
- Open the post_bit legacy template.
Remove the <fieldset> and <legend> tags also be sure to remove their closing tags as well i.e </fieldset> and </legend>

This will remove the box around the awards in your post bit.

If you want to remove the space in between the awards do the following:

Go into your style/template manager
Into the style where the mod is installed
Open the Yet Another Awards System Templates tab
Open the Awards bit template
Remove the following at the very end of the code: &nbsp;
Now all the awards will be right next to each other.

I still need to figure how to get it to wrap after 5 awards though, anyone can help?

I shoot down one problem and another comes up... or rather several.

1. Look at this page: SOuthwest Regulators (http://www.southwestregulators.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7740&postcount=3) notice how the two full lines of ribbons are not spaced at all (which is good) but the third one with only two ribbons has a gap between it and the others. How do I remove that gap? I've looked through my code searching for a rogue &nbsp; tag or something and nothing... what is causing this?

2. It only wraps after 5 ribbons in the postbit_legacy, not in the new style horizontal postbit. How can I have it wrap after 5 ribbons in the new post bit?

i got this error when viewing profiles of members who got an award.

I am trying to work out whether YAAS will work for my application. I am looking for a mod that will let our members nominate a photo, or thread, for an award -- and then have the community vote for their favorite. Basic on that vote, we will make awards, and issue both virtual and physical awards (we will send something).

Can I do this with YAAS, or another vBulletin mod?

Does anyone know how I'd be able to award people automatically based on how long they've been registered with my forum? I want to give out an award for 100 days, 250 days, and so on, but it would have to be automatic.

I have tried to click here on both of those options in my Admin CP but it gives me the following error.
'No Phrases Matched Your Query'

Did I miss something on the install?

Also when I created a forum in the admin section for the awards request so our admins could vote on someone receiving the award. I then tested the request award and it gave me an error message saying I didn't have permission to view that page.

Anyone have any ideas?

To edit PM content you edit the phrase "award_pm". For some reason it doesn't show under the award phrases so go to "Search Phrases" and search for "{$award_name}" and it'll bring it right up.
