Can too many hacks use up the "max concurrent connections" to mysql databases? I am on a shared host and am only allowed 15 max concurrent connections to mysql (I am allowed to turn off concurrent connections in the config.php though) Is there any reason why more mods could affect this?

If so, which mods?

not the mods, just the users. and you'd have to have 15 people at the same exact time trying to acccess the site/view a thread/view anything. Which isn't all that many.

15 current connections... damn, your host is pecky... i have 200 on mine... lol

a connection is made when starting to load a page, and it is closed when the page is output... any number of hacks can't change that, as the connection is kept until the output of the page...

IMO , a hack like torrents , constantly keeps check / request some information from the database , as to how much a user has uploaded / downloaded , which in turn allows / disallows him to access new files .

Yah, my host is bad. I'm thinking about going to a dedicated server real soon.

<a href="http://www.tkqlhce.com/8l122gv30v2IKSSJOKJIKJLQSOJL?sid=vb" target="_blank">powweb</a> is honestly the best shared host out there.. from personal experience they have never let me down and their max_mysql_connections only limits me if i have 500+ people viewing my site at once.

was on powweb for 8~9months. yes they are good. we had to drop them bcoz of there php ver. we cant upgrade our vb from 3.5 to 3.6
they got load banacing technology..so server load wont be big issue.

but atm we are on knownhost.com .Well KH never took more than 1min for any kind of support 24/7

and they are really tooooooo goodd

you can alternate PHP versions using powweb. it's by far the best shared host out there, I dunno why you had any problems upgrading 3.5->3.6 ...
1&1 is only good for dedicated servers.
