Version 3.5.6 Questions

Can someone help me out?

1st
I have V3.5.4 and I installed the patch as instructed.
Does the patch updates the Version?

2nd
Today I decided to upgrade my forum form V3.5.4 to V3.5.6 but after reading the instructions it looks like I am going overall my existing files. I know I do not want to do that.

Anyone has better clear instructions on how to do this?

To upgrade, you need to overwrite all of your existing files with the upgrade files and run the install/upgrade.php script
