I just found a neat online crossword puzzle that you can add to your site and I thought, it would be really easy to just make a page to put this in.

Vbulletin site page: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=141331

Step 1: Go to your admincp => Plugins & Products => Manage Products => Add/Import Product
Import product-christianb_vbacross.xml

Step 2: Go to your admincp => vBa CMPS => Add Page

Page Title Site Crosswords
Page Identifier crosswords
Display Order (your choice)
Meta Keywords (your choice)
Meta Description (your choice)
Parent Page (your choice)
Custom Style for this Page (your choice)
Page Active Yes
Template Title adv_portal_vbacross
Modules enabled Make sure all left and right columns are disabled and custom content in the center is enabled - other center column content is your choice.
Usergroups Define as necessary

Step 3: Go to http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?page=crosswords (page identifier on the end that you set up in step 2)

And they are looking for spanish and french translators as well.
See this page (http://www.onlinecrosswords.net/) for details.

Demo location: http://www.christianboards.org/index.php?page=crosswords

This is loaded in an iframe so it is coming from the source site. Because of this there can be a 1-15 second delay.

Changes

V. 1.1 Added support for Who's Online

Thanx very much CHRISTIANB for this - Very nice sharing!
In the directions - it doesn't say anything about creating a module.
I actually had to create a new template module using the adv_portal_vbacross for it to show.

But a fabulous find = Thanx again ;)

Could you be kind enough to post a little more info on how to add this template? I would like to add the mod and some clarification about this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks much1

The product creates the template needed - and you don't have to have a module as the page uses the template for custom content. However, if you do create a module and go that route, then that's another way of doing it - but its not the way I did it (I was trying to save a step).

hmmmm - OK - I tried but seemed everytime the new page wouldn't load the crossword - then tried adding the module and it worked straight away. At anyrate - it's a fabulous share = Much appreciation for taking the time to release it. I'm sure my Member will love it, as we're just crazy about words LOL - Thanx CHRISTIAN ;)

ok, if you add as a template it WILL work so you don't have to add it as a mod or anything else.

the reason it wasnt working for the guy above, as well as myself is because in the options, there's a section called "options" just below the "advanced options"...in there, look for "CMPS URL" and make sure the link to your index file is correct. i notice that mine was incorrect and was still at it's default (/cmps_index.php) which will not work. for me, the correct path is "/index.php" and now my crossword and homepage links are working perfectly.

thanks for the hack, christian. :)

Thanks - I was out on surgery and recovering last week (back to work now), but glad the CMPS issue was resolved with the templates (mine is /index.php by default)

You can with this: http://www.greeneclipsesoftware.com/eclipsecrossword/index.html
If I had the time, I would create something to use with this (I used this with my forum software before coming to vbulletin).

Didn't recognize the Membername LOL - But anyway - this is interesting!
What exactly do you mean by "Who's online support?" From my understanding that can be added via the vBA CMPS in the AdminCP???

Anyway - thanx!

All you have to do is reimport the xml using the updated file. No other changes are made.

It would have to be Template.

I've updated my CMPS since I wrote this so it looked a little weird. :)

I will update the hack instructions later.

Looking at your site and the screenshots, I would suggest reimporting the product. I've just installed it on vBA 3.0 as a module and as a template.

I just linked directly to it and it is fine now. Never got the module/template page to work. This works so I am good! Thanks!
