vBulletin license 3.6.2

Hi! I am running an unlicensed version of vBulletin on my website right now. I am about to buy the licensed version but I had a few questions. Because I'm new to vBulletin can someone tell me exactly how I would be able to switch to a licensed version without losing any data? Ill buy the license from vbulletin.com but what do I do next? A detailed list of instructions would be great. Thanks a lot! Looking forward to buying the licensed version...

Contact the vBulletin staff. They will only be too happy to help you move to a licensed version of vBulletin. But the best thing to do would be to do a database backup from your adminCP. Once you have purchased vBulletin, download vBulletin 3.6.2, install it and restore the backup.
Then, download the patches to upgrade from 3.6.2 to 3.6.4.

thanks for replying compuforums! so all my skins, users, etc will be saved in the database backup? and about the staff should I PM them or do they reply to these threads? cheers!

Actually all you have to do is upload the licensed files from the members area, no need to reinstall. I suggest doing an upgrade to 3.6.4 then as well (make sure to backup the database first).

what folder would they go in derekivey? and also is there a major difference in 3.6.2 and 3.6.4? would my skins/hacks work there?

hum, sorry, but CompuForums.org gave you false informations on the process...

for all upgrades, from a unlicensed or not, you simply have to upload the new files to your location and activate the upgrade process... the script is able to detect what version you are using, and how to handle the process by itself...

you will have info in a READ ME about upgrading vB..

you simply upload over the existing files on the ftp
