You do not have the images in the proper location. The images go in the misc folder for your specific style. FF just hides the fact that they are broken and just displays the alt text.

Hi there,
I installed this over the weekend and because we already have over 3,700 members with gamer tags set up, the system was beavering away to add them. I think most were added over the course of the weekend.
Unfortunately our forums were really struggling this morning.
The gXboxLive mod was absolutely strangling the database server.

and as soon as I deactivated the mod, the server instantaneously sprang back to life.

Any clues as to what it is about the mod was causing this and how we can improve the situation?

You are right, I thought it disabled the whole page when the product was disabled, I will have to change that.

I don't know why it is causing such load. There are leadboards with 10k members running on an older version of gXboxLive which trys to update all the cards every 30 minutes, extremely inefficient.

With only 1000 members it should be making 5 gamercard updates at a time, and should be done between 12am and 3:30am.

Of course, I am always working on optimizing it more, it has been a main goal since the release of v2.

It appears that after installing 2.1.4 last night (and now 2.1.6 today), when a user who is set to use the postbit_legacy tries to view a thread, none of the post contents are appearing.
Is this a coincidence or something that gXboxLive may have caused in some way?

Thankefully only one user currently uses the postbit_legacy, all others use the normal postbit.

Hi Gryphon, great hack, been using it for a while, however, ever since the 2.1.3 version, the Leaderboard simply refuses to update the scores. As you can see here (http://forum.computergames.ro/gxboxlive.php), the score shown for angelcrying is 37799, but if you hover to see his Gamertag, the actual score is 37899 (not to mention the fact that his games aren't even listed on the scoreboard).

This is what I get when i run the cron job manually:

I've tried running the cron job manually, but the end result is the same. Is there anything I can do, short of reinstalling the mod altogether?

I can not view the board as a guest. However, the scores update once per day, so changes mid day will not be picked up until the next day. When Update Accounts has no user names, all of the accounts for the day have been processed.

If you are not seeing the games listed, that is an odd problem, I am not sure what could be causing that off the top of my head.

@gundarN, I'm not sure why that would be the case. The way the postbit template is modified is exactly the same between the two. I use legacy by default on my boards ok. I will dig into this and see if I can find anything.

I have my own XBL Gamercard functionality which, in specific forums (just the Xbox ones), the user's avatar or gamercard will be displayed depending on a choice they make in their CP options page.
(I have the system create a narrower version of the gamercard which fits into postbit_legacy without forcing the cell width wider. I use an iFrame which calls an external script because I don't know how to code using the new plugin system).
The way I update the gamercards is to make a check only when the gamercard needs to be displayed. I.e. a users' post is displayed. Then it looks to see if the card has been updated in the last 24 hours, and if it hasn't, it updates it right away.
Maybe your system could do a full update once a week at a specified time -2am, say.
And then update as needed like my system does.
I would alter my system to use the info from your tables if your mod was working ok on our board.

I give members the option put this in their profile under edit profile, but to those that dont have a tag or do not want to add one keep getting an error that says :"You did not enter the correct format for the Xbox Live GamerTag field. Please read the field description for the expected format." and I have it set to be optional. Any idea?

Uninstalled. I was told that the cron job script has an error that isn't allowing the field to be passed correctly. Everytime the scheduled task runs, it causes database errors. Sorry, can't use this in the current version.

There's a cron task that runs something to update field 5, but its not getting passed in correctly.

i'm sure this is a stupid question but when i'm uploading the files do i just upload the whole folder or do i upload each individual file? like for example, the clientscript folder has another folder in it called overlib. do i upload the overlib folder into the clientscript folder or open it up and upload each of the files into clientscript?

I have done that mines says field id: 5 - when I put 5 in I get this error all other numbers above that I do not get an error

I had it on ID 6 & it did not give me an error I then created a duplicate field ID which became 6 & then the error as back!

When I try and open the xboxlive.php I get an error as well!!

I really wants this to work - all I have installed on my board is Ad Managment & import mod & I am not using the standard style

Fantastic plug-in. Very nice!

I just installed last night and have been doing some testing, but one of my members will not show up in the leaderboard. His gamertag DOES show up in his profile, but he never shows in the leaderboard. The only thing somewhat different is that his gamertag is two words with a space between them. Could that be causing the problem?

I have lost the 'stars' in the rep field. None of the 3 rep star options will work. All I'm showing for rep is "Reputation:". Img directory is still the same as with previous versions. Not sure what happened.

EDIT: I got it corrected. I made a slight change to the _bit template in a previous version. I reverted the template back after a reinstall and everything is cool.

In the future, it is always best to upload the physical files before installing a product and uninstall in the opposite no matter what mod you use.

The upload folder works just like the vBulletin upload folder, upload the contents to your forum directory.

Not quite sure what you mean, but, you need to have ftp access and upload the contents of the upload folder to you forum directory. There isn't much else to help explain that, it's pretty basic.

I mean when you download a hack, most of the time you have to upload other files that can't be uploaden in the Plugins & Products menu. So i want to know where that is and how do i get there.

If you don't know how to upload files to the server, I can't begin to explain how to do that, it should be basic knowledge if you are running a vBulletin. If you are just an admin on someone elses board, you will need to talk to the owner about uploading files.

Alternatively, I tried creating a secondary usergroup and then disallowing that usergroup from appearing on the leaderboard. That did not work.

Perhaps it would best if there was a option in the admin CP in which we could enter userid #s of those who we don't want included on the leaderboard display.

I think its important that this is addressed as gamerscore cheaters are fairly common and they ruin the integrity of the leaderboard.

I just installed last night and have been doing some testing, but one of my members will not show up in the leaderboard. His gamertag DOES show up in his profile, but he never shows in the leaderboard. The only thing somewhat different is that his gamertag is two words with a space between them. Could that be causing the problem?

Interesting. It appears that there are no banned usergroups being detected by the script. Do you not have a banned usergroup? I will add a fix for the script if it can't find any.

What i did was import my SMF forum when I first started, but all usergroups & users were moved to the VB standard usergroups & then I deleted the old usergroups.

Well, it would certainly help to know the error. But most likely you need to upload all the files, not just update the product. But again, errors are extremely helpful in diagnosing problems. It is difficult to just guess what the problem could be.

I did upload all of the files and then imported the xml with overwrite enabled. Now I just get Database Error when I go to my site. But I just did a database restore and all is back to normal now.

I should no longer be deleting users. That was a function of an older version, but it should no longer delete gamertags unless the user is deleted or their profile is edited.

I know there are some existing glitches that still need to be ironed out.

Just place $template_hook[navbar_buttons_left] etc where you would like the links to appear in the navbar. I assume this is what you are asking.

When the product is not enabled on the forum home etc, it appears to make calls xbox.com for images.
This is slowing down our forum. Anyway this can be addressed?

I used http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ to verify the forum home.

With the product enabled (but not showing on forumhome) there are 56 HTTP Requests and the page size is 672308 bytes.

With the product disabled, there are 7 http requests and the page size is 164482 bytes.

with the product enabled and showing on the forum home, there are again 56 HTTP requests and a size of 658223.

Is it possible to have the leaderboard as a seperate product?

How do I get to the leaderboards. I feel as if I fallowed the steps correctly, but maybe I uploaded the pieces to the wrong sections on my server.

I uploaded the "upload" folder to /iatgaming/forums/
I deleted the Image folder out of there because I think that it isn't needed since you said to upload that folder to a different location

It works fine on 3.7.0, there isn't much that is vBulletin version dependant other than adding navbar links, so it should work on a lot of versions ok. As far as url goes, it only fetches info from http://gamercard.xbox.com/[gamertag].card

ok... I installed and when I try and update the "field ID" to "field25" and hit save it goes back to 0. If I enter just 25 it saves.

Thats the last time it ran, I updated the fix and that happened, so how do i know who it is we have over 2000 members ?

We have also only had 4 new members today and there gamertags are all good..

I have also personally entered all the gametags myself as we have just re branded the site.

@doogie1775, double check your settings, they are all that can create such a message.

@alfieuk, just use the Search for Users administrator tool and enter "Hi!" into the Xbox Live profile field. Might double check your field ID also, it could be using a different custom profile field somehow. But the leaderboard is trying to search for the gamertag "Hi!", this can only come from something a user has entered.

What is the exact error or message? If it says "gXboxLive is currently disabled" you need to go to the product management and enable it.

@alfieuk, glad you found it ok. Detecting this is on my todo, I just have been quite busy lately. The regex in the instructions above should help keep people from entering the wrong format, but the results people are having seem to be mixed. Maybe an error in the regex, but you could try it.

But i know both these boards got DB errors after installing this afternoon.. Unrelated boards.. Unrelated members.......

Edit the GXBL template. There's error in the code around the <head>, <body> tag and an extra > on the closing <if> tag.

No, the condition is within the <body> tag. By his error, you can see that it is finding a '<' not '>' as a problem. I don't know why this would only be happening for him.

@Holfy, I am unsure what could have caused that. I am running it on 4 different boards of various vBulletin versions and have had zero issues no have I heard of any like that. Some Google searching on Errcode: 17 shows it is a server issue, not vBulletin or the mod.

@x4A, run the cron and see if there are any errors or something. I can't begin to guess what the may be the problem without some kind of testing done to give me some kind of idea where the problem may be.

@bigfraggle, the game link is stored directly from the gamercard so there is no template or modification redily available to change it. You could try creating a replacement variable, though I am unsure how well that will work out.

I noticed on my forumhome that even though I do NOT have it display anything that I'm adding +4 queries to every forumhome load. Is this normal?

I also see it's adding +4 queries on the showthread/postbit as well.

If I turn it off in both of these places, the +4 queries still occur. I was hoping to have no added queries anywhere except to load it in the profile and of course the separate page.

Any thoughts on why there are still +4 queries in each of those when set not to display?

You don't have to create your own proxy there are some already out there that are open to public use. http://duncanmackenzie.net/ has a feed from xbox.com, he opened it to the public because it's so hard to get into XCDP(I've tried). PM me if you would like the url.

one other thing. When viewing posts....near the avatar section where it says "gXbox Live Leaderboard 1st". Can you tell me where to change that to just "Xbox" instead of "gXbox" ? I found corrections for the other sections, but not this one. People might be confused... gXbox huh?

Phrase manager is pretty much like the template manager, just edit away, you can always revert. If you edit the templates, you have to do it every upgrade. If you edit the phrase, any template changes will be applied during an upgrade without having to edit it again.

I have it disabled by default just because it is so easy to send friend requests people could just click down the list adding everyone friend or not for whatever reason so I leave that up to the admins to decide. They can not be hacked unless by their own fault and the friend system is already available on xbox.com even without this mod. Nothing would put you at fault.

any known issues with this increasing server load more then normal ? I been running TOP since I installed it. Before the install, the server load was around 0.15 to 0.25. Now its around 0.30 to 0.35.

2 things, first off i'm getting the same problem with the link in gxboxlive.php to add your gamertag.... It would be fantastic if whatever is entered into that field would overwrite the determined field you choose in the options.

Also, the user info shown under your name/avatar should show inside a box just like join date, location etc. Right now it looks like it breaks up the style.....

Just 2 little things to think about if you decide to keep working on this, thanks for a fantastic script! :)

For anyone that cares, i managed to fix the problem with the postbit rank not showing the in the same format as everything else....

Go to your "Style Manager" and edit "gxbl_postbit" in the style your using. The first line you see should have:
<if condition="$show['gxblrank']"><div>

behind <div> add this:
<if condition="$show['gxblrank']"><div class="vb_postbit_info">

That fixed mine.... Now if I could find out where to edit the damn "gXboxLive Leaderboard:" phrase i'd be happy, that doesn't fit in my template and breaks up a whole nother line. :(

Does anyone get MySQL errors when it runs to update the scores? I had to disable this for the fact I was getting 20 errors a day when it would try to run the cron. I posted the error I was getting but it seems the support for this has left the building.

For now I run and update once a day and tunr it off until I think about it again

@biglamb your errors are due to your members entering false usernames, the error you reported is pretty descriptive if you read it. As you can see by your example someone entered "PSN not XBox Live, BadKarma117", you should find these users and remove their entries. Eventually I hope to automatically fix this in the cron, however until then you should manually fix these users.

Wait for it to be processed by a timed update.

It should be within a few minutes, otherwise check to see if the properly entered their tag and run the scheduled task manually and see if there are any errors. Some troubleshooting needs to be done by you in order to help further.

No, I am not sure why no others would show up. Are you sure actual gamertags have been entered? I can't really do the troubleshooting for you, if I knew of such a situation I would enter a fix for it. You should have some semblance of how to investigate such issues and report some more information, I can't just begin to guess what the issue could be.

MS isn't changing gamertags. Just the dashboard. I've had the same Gamertag since Xbox Live went "live" on my Xbox 1. That doesn't make much of a difference, as far as I know.

OK, I installed this a couple of hours ago (http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/gxboxlive.php), and it updated several gamertags fairly quickly. Addded 36 of them. Then as a test, I went into another profile and added a gamer tag (a real one) to see how long it would take the mod to pick up that new one, and add it in.

This was just about two hours and 15 ago. So I went and looked in the scheduled tasks log, and the last entry was just about two hours ago. It found 36 entries right away, but has gotten "stuck" since then. I checked, I have 180 profiles with gamertags in there.

I've forced the scheduled task manager to run a few times since then, but it's found nothing. It would appear the mod is "stuck". I'm not seeing any error messages at all, just that it found noting to do when I force run the task manager. I know there's more than 36 people in my database with names.

Not sure what to do here. Any ideas? If there's a totally bogus one, would it get stuck like this, or would it throw an error? What about if someone does something dumb like enter one with all spaces, or an &nbsp; ?
