View Full Version : Paid Conversion

I can't post in the paid conversion area so I'm posting this here.
I have a variant of phpBB called phpBBFM (http://www.phpbbfm.net). I am considering switching to vB but only if I can convert my existing forum to vB and maintain the following two mods:
Photo Album
Attachment Mod
I can get the reference numbers for the installation if you want.
Everything else from the forum can be dropped. I can shut the forum down for a couple days while the conversion takes place. There's a couple hundred users and about 90K posts.
If you are interested in helping me I would be interested in paying for your services. ;) Additionally, I might be interested in some web development/integration of the forum into a cohesive website.
My apologies if I'm violating every rule of this forum here. Please don't just delete the post without posting a reason. I hate that. :)

If your variant of phpbb keeps the same table columns, then i am pretty sure you wont have a problem importing and keeping the attachments.
What gallery are you using? What gallery are you planning to use once your live with vb?

Excellent questions.
Looks like "File Attachment v2.4.5", according to this list (http://phpbbfm.net/support/docs/).
There are two listings of installed mods that refer to Photo Album:
Photo Album v1.0.1
Photo Album v1.0.0
Thing is, with this forum, the maintainer-of-the-code has made modifications to get all the hundreds of mods to integrate. If you need I can request the URL of the original locations for the source of these mods, but I assume that the first is the famous "Attachment Mod (http://sourceforge.net/projects/acydmods/)"
The photo album is probably here (http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1060), but I would have to verify this. The version numbers don't match what's listed in the mods list at phpbbFM, however.
If you know of a way to print out the tables and fields from a MySQL database, I could do that and post the output so that we can see what's going on and where.
As far as what photo album I would use with vB, I haven't researched what's out there. I suppose now would be a good time, huh? :) Got a link or list?

As far as galleries go:
vbgallery (vbulletin dependant and 100% integrated, my first and recommended choice)
photopost (not vbulletin dependant, slightly more features, slightly less integration, slightly more expensive)
Both of these are available for purchase at photopost.com and may have an importer or more experience importing from your system
photoplog (there is a lite version here on vb.org and a commerical version for sale - pretty nice gallery)
Copper Mine (open source, not sure if the bridge file was updated, not my favorite)
MenalTo Gallery (there is or was a bridge available here for user logons but like coppermine its not 100% integrated.)

Wow, thanks. I appreciate the info.
I suppose I should simply buy the license, do the conversion, and see what's missing. While there's a lot of information out there about scripting and so forth I'm only conversant in VBS and some SQL syntax. I would think that a competent person could look at the vB database with photo/attachment mods installed and compare that with existing and come up with a solution a heck of a lot faster than I could.
And there is the aforementioned potential for some web development.
Are you capable of performing these services, Reeve?

I appreciate the offer but I'm probably not the best person suited for this task. I just figured I'd chime in with some input in the meantime. :)

Unlicensed members cannot use the service requests forum (see the first line of his first post ;)).
