This is my first release so go easy on me okay :)

This will add a nifty little hyperlinked immage so that if someone were to post a download link, it would display a hyper-linked immage for the user to click on instead of a long download link to a file or w/e

Installation:
Goto adminCP ->Custom BBCodes-> Add new BBCode

Title:
Download

Tag:
dl

Replacement:
<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" /></a>

Example:
http://

Description:
Hyperlinked download immage

Use {option}
No

Button Immage:
http://anywares.info/ImgHost/images/5639dl.gif

PLEASE NOTE: I uploaded the immage so if you wish to download it and upload it to your server, just change http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png to the path of where its located at on your server :)

For instance, if you upload it to your /images file the code would look like this:
<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src=Forum/images/misc/IMAGE NAME /></a>

If you like it, click install ;)

Did you close your <a> tags? make sure to start AND finish with <a> tags.... other than that its suppose to work. remember

<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" /></a>

the <a> tags HAVE to open AND close otherwise it wont work ;)

You might want to include the image in a ZIP so that users can upload it to their own server, in case it ever gets taken off ImageShack.

I'm new here and I really like this mod ... but. There's always a but, huh? When in use on the forums the image has a link hilight box around it. Is there any way to remove/hide that? It's like underlined for text links but it wraps around the image.

Thanks

lolz ive encountered this problem with firefox. they think its leet or smtin to link the immages like that. im not sure at all if this will work but its worth a try eh?

use this code:

<table border="0">
<tr>
<td>
<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" /></a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Thanks anywares, valiant effort but it had no effect on the image. I have the image uploaded to my server but it still shows the "link" outine.

You have to put border=0 in the code to remove the ugly box:
<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" border=0/></a>

Nice mod - thanks :)

...also, if you are hosting the file in your forums/images/misc directory you need to put a forward slash before forums:
<a href="http://" target="_new"><img src=/forums/images/misc/downloadzc4.png border=0/></a>

Here's a cool little png file to use as a button image:

lol glad you like it but he doesnt mean that border, he means the border that Firefox 2+ puts around a hyperlinked immage

I think you might have skipped/missed something in the codes

be shore to get the FULL code so that it looks like this:

<a href="{param}" target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" /></a>

What to do if you use different styles on your forum and want to use different (your own) button-layouts matching your styles with this modification?
Here's the solution:
1. upload your buttons to the style related editor-folders.

2. create a new, additional css-definition for each style like this:
.bbpw{
display:block;
float: right;
background:url(editor_directory_path/yourbutton.gif);
width:150px; height:29px;
}

3. In the bbcode replacement:

<table width="400" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td class="bbpw" align="left" width="150" border="0">
</td>
<td align="right" width="250" border="0">
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="left" colspan="2" style="background-color: #C0FFC0; border: 2px solid Red; padding: 1px; clear:left"><FONT COLOR="#FF0000"><normalfont>{param}</normalfont></FONT>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

You may edit the width, name of class etc to fit your needs...

But im gettin an image plus the code.... "" target="_new">"

You need to set the param-code WITHOUT the quotation marks like this:

<a href={param} target="_new"><img src="http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9572/downloadzc4.png" /></a>

idea: if this would change ANY links posted to be replaced with a image called 'link' (whatever image you may use), I would like it even more? possible to do that?

You want an image named "link" instead of a "Download" image? Or you want links to be text replaced?

Is it possible to do this hack to attachments rather than external links, in other words is it possible to change the attachment names to a download button, thanks
