NCODE PRODUCT UPDATES CRON VBULLETIN 3.6.0
version: 0.5.2
I. What does it do
This plugin provides a cron job which checks for new versions of your installed products each day. It reports by email and through the scheduled taks log.
II. What does it not do
This plugin cannot and does not update products automatically. It does not change your vBulletin installation.
III. Installation
1. Upload "ncode_productupdates.php" to includes/cron
2. Use the product manager in vBulletin to import the file "product-ncode_productupdatescron.xml"
IV. Configuration
In the options panel you are able to find two options regarding this product. By default the reports are sent to the webmaster email address. You can override this behavior by altering the setting "Destination Email".
This scheduled task will report errors that occured while fetching version information by email. If you do not want to receive reports on this, change the option "Send Version Check Errors" to No.

I hope a mod like this doesn't exist already. This version is a try-out, please leave suggestions and bugreports in this thread.

To see what the actual demand for this plugin is. Is that plugin available on vB.org as well?

Hmm, I used the wrong searching terms then. The products have slightly different aims: Mine sends email updates and that plugin just displays a message, so an administrator still has to visit the forum admin panel.
I'll leave this product here, so people can make advantage of both kinds of notification. My apologies to the author of the other Check Version plugin.

That it's not GPL or anything similarI don't follow what GPL has to do with the comment I highlighted. If you are charging for this mod then you cannot release it here. If you are not charging for it then it's free and that comment is nonsense and confusing, and needs to be removed.

I think he means we're free to use it, but not free to sell it or modify it. I could be wrong though.

It's free as free to use, but not free as in free software foundation. If it violates anything I'll remove it.

Is there any way of stopping receiving this notification from coming into my mailbox every day? The offending mod works fine and I assume it's the result of the modder forgetting something?
Thanks

Badger

Is there some other mod which has version 2.25 as last version?
Could you give a list of mods that you have installed? (by PM is OK)

Today I've put up version 0.5.2 of this mod, which again fixes a small bug reported by BadgerDog. It is best to upgrade as soon as possible. Just install it over the current version.

Ok, for whatever reason Ncron stopped working and I haven't been getting information via email about updates, but I have been receiving them the traditional way, direct from the individual mod notifications.
I ran the 0.5.2 cron job manually and got this error:
nCode Product Updates
Fatal error: Call to a member function query_first() on a non-object in /includes/class_mail.php(266) : eval()'d code on line 4
Any ideas?
Thanks

Using the latest version of vB I do not get this error. What other custom cron jobs do you have?
