What should I make the files open with? Notepad?

I generally use wordpad (i've found sometimes notepad messes with the formatting)

are you talking about the php files? there's an app called Notepad+++ i believe that's pretty handy.

You should look at CuteFTP, I think it's the best -- and its got a built-in editor. :)

wordpad always asks you to put it into text formatting stuff like if you copied paste =\

if your using FireFox, try fireftp:)

Yes, and personally not a big fan of SmartFTP, had too many problems with SmartFTP. If it works for you, great, but CuteFTP has always worked better for me.

Yeah, I just don't like the layout or functionality of SmartFTP. CuteFTP is great, I use the Professional version -- it's only a few bucks; but the Free version is just as good.
