Quote Limiting

I'm new here, but I spent a few minutes searching through the forums looking for a tool that would do what I need, and came up empty.

Here's my problem: I have nice mobile versions of my sites, but they're very frustrating to use when a user quotes the entirety of a very long message (because on a phone with a small screen you have to scroll and scroll). Even on the desktop it's irritating when someone quotes a huge message and you have to scroll past something you've already read just to get to a one-line "Yeah, I agree!" post. :mad:

To be honest, I'm very surprised this isn't already integrated into vBulletin - it seems like a problem that every forum would have.

What I'm looking for is a modification/add-on that would allow me to limit the content of a quote to "x" characters.

Does such a thing exist?

You are *so* not alone on this one! This has got to be one of the most irritating aspects of being the admin on a large community forum. Feeling obligated to stay on top of all posts, this scrolling past entire quotes is driving me insane, and no matter how many times we "train" our 2k membership on how to quote correctly, they just don't listen.

I too was rather shocked that this isn't covered in the basic vB settings through admin. Once I figured out that I wasn't just missing something (I think), I've been going mad searching here for something that apparently doesn't exist yet.

I sincerely hope we hear an answer to this soon. I would love to get this issue off my "to do" list! I was glad to finally see someone else looking to solve this issue. If there's something I've missed, please forgive me, but I have searched in every way I know how.
