navbar spanning 100 percent of the forum width

Like the navbar on this forum.

thought I figured it out, but....

seems I lose my quick links. I copy the complete navbar template (excluding the welcomeheaders and lgvmessage) to the bottom of the header template right between <!-- logo --> and <!-- content table -->. Seems all good, except I lose the quick links.

any ideas?
