Display comment

I need to display a comment from within a template but not sure how to do it.

I want <!-- comment --> to display within the footer of every page but if i add <!-- comment --> to the footer template nothing is displayed because its a comment, but i need it to display is there anyway ?

Have you tried using the HTML entities for the brackets? &lt;!-- comment --&gt;
