What does it do?

This is better for forums which get alot of post reports, it allows staff to see the amount of post reports open and lets them review and leave appropiate comments.

Users can see there post reports made and can see the status of the report and the moderator dealing with the report.

Admins / SuperMods / Moderators can see the post reports

*Note Moderators will only see the post reports in the forums they moderate*


Moderators can see who reported the post and the time at which it was reported, and the comment given by the user. There are also links to the post itself, the thread the post is on, the forum the thread is in, the user who posted the post and the user who reported the post.

The user page can be linked anywhere you choose; I have included instructions for linking it on the quicklinks menu.


Moderators can update the status of the report, and add a comment. The user who reported the post can then see these changes reflected in their page - it will show the name of the moderator dealing with the report, the comment (if any) left by the moderator, and the time at which the report was last updated.

When a moderator sets the status of a report to 'closed', it is moved to another page in modcp called 'closed post reports'. Post reports that are in the pending state are still kept in the 'outstanding post reports' page.

Installation
Unpack the .zip file
Upload the files in the upload directory to your forum root
Install the product by uploading the product xml file into the product manager in Admin CP
Make the two template changes specified in 'template changes.txt'Upgrading

From v1.0

If you are upgrading from v1.00 please uninstall then install the new one.
Be sure to uninstall the original otherwise you will get 2x everything!

From v1.01 OR HIGHER

Simply upload the plugin and choose to overwrite.

Please note that since i didnt release the original i cannot give support for this modification, however i will help as best as i can
I have permission to release this port of the original
FULLY backup your site before installing this modification!! Im not responsible for any loss of data etc if you install this incorrectly or dont backup your database
Uninstall any previous releases of this hack BEFORE installing this one, failure to do so will result in database errors. *Meaning previous releases, not previous versions of my release*
This has only been tested on 3.6.4 and 3.6.5, i dont see why this wouldn't work on other versions of vBulletin 3.6.X

Nice hack. but since in vb3.6 mods have the control under UserCP, can you make that option to control for the reported post. mods can moderate those post in there usercp, it'll be easy for them, rather then login to modcp every time.

(X being the amount of open post reports)

This will take them to the page to continue moderating the post reports

This will be no different than going into the usercp

Yeah just run an upgrade, non of the script has changed, just a bug where i entered the wrong id has been fixed, this will keep you updated for new versions

It would be very nice if the system could run into the forum, into the UserCP, our any other place but not on the ugly one that it runs nowadays... :p

This is changeable in your vBulletin settings.

I installed it on my test board (3.6.5) which went fine, but when a user clicks on "your post reports" link and it takes you there, the table is much wider then the actuall width of my board.

I'm not sure if this has something to do with your hack or with my settings, but none of the other seem to cause this problem.

No, why would this delete a topic?

I fixed the problem where if the email option was turned off it would not work but the report system still works as usual..

The problem you are facing isn't really a bug.. When all the options for report posts are turned off the vB post report system disables itself. Which is logical as it thinks there is no way for you to view it anyway.

Try making a forum that is hidden to all and put that as the post reports here forum.

The hack above is offcourse a very good and much used one but when 20+ people report the same post it kind of loses its functionality.

What about a hack/add-on (to this hack?) that let the users know that the post is already reported (x times and why?) where the admin can set a maximum of reports that can be send about the same post/thread. Maybe it can be shown in the thread but it can also be a new page after clicking the report button. When the max report is reached the report button/option disappears.

I hope someone can make this much needed hack/plugin/add-on.

Another thing the moderators on the forum ask is if it is possible when you click the link to see all open reports, that for every open report you also see a link to the forum where the report thread for the moderators is created. Is this clear?

Users who just moderates a few forum gets a message telling them how many reported posts there are in their forum, but if they check the modcp they can see and handle all the post reports and not just the posts in their forums.

Would be great if you can change/fix that, because I don't want some random board mod to be able to handle all the reports. :p

I agree, in addition to that I'd really love to see the reports being grouped by threadid, and perhaps even allow closing multiple reports, that'd really help to speed things up when there are a lot of reports waiting for action - saves the endless reloading.

I pulled out my product and changed the XML to allow it to be installed on 3.7. Everything seems to go back in except I have the same result, when posts are reported, it doesn't make the entry into the postreport table in the DB.

I've managed to fix mine...its because somehow jelsoft have left out the report_send_process from report.php so I have added it back in.

I've managed to fix mine...its because somehow jelsoft have left out the report_send_process from report.php so I have added it back in.

I suspected it was something simple like this because I noticed that all that "wasn't happening" was it wasn't getting entered into the table upon report. Thanks for the heads up!! I'll see if I can add the hook in mine :)

The most simple fix is to re-add the hook back in.

Open up the report.php file in your main directory then:

Find:
$reportobj->do_report($vbulletin->GPC['reason'], $postinfo);
Place this code immediately above it:
($hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('report_send_process')) ? eval($hook) : false;

If installing for the first time however, the xml file wont upload as its coded dependency is up to 3.6.99 but if you open the xml file before uploading and just change the 6 to a 7 it works wonders (that only needs done for new installations)

This is NOT needed. The hacker programed it wrong. There is a simple fix for this which I have and also working on visitor message, photos etc integration as well. Already have visitor messages done just need to finish back-end and template. Will contact original owner about release. There are a LOT of bugs and code changes that need to be done to work properly.

Ok, I've used this system for quite a while. I know it isn't compatible with 3.7+ no problem. My question is: how do I get everything back to the standard vB report post functionality? Ever since I used this product, I've had incomplete reported posts. The reason never, ever, shows up.

This thing worked great for about 2 weeks, then it broke (I probably broke it). Since then, we've mumbled through reported posts when we get them. Now that activity is picking up, and a few more posts are being reported, I'd like to know why.

So, again, how do I get it back to where the reported reason shows up with the reported post? Thank you for any help :)

You need to re-edit the report.php as an upgrade to 3.7.4 over-wrote the changes you made :)

Some info:

Everything seems to work, as far as the scripting for loading each page. The only thing that doesn't work is the essential task of inserting the report into the table.

I'm guessing this is an easy fix, but I have little experience when it comes to VB coding, so I really don't want to try it, and then have nothing working!

Any experienced coder: all it needs to do is add the post reports into the proper tables! Everything else works!!

Thought I'd fixed it but apparently not... just found out that vB 3.7/3.8 reduced reporting for PMs, social group messages, social group pictures, user profile messages, user gallery messages and user gallery pictures. It also throws errors when trynna report/move certain threads. CBA to sort all that out and work out where it's going wrong so I'm gonna set up a /testvb/ forum and try code my own reports system from the ground up. If you PM me I'll tell you when it's done.

Edit: There might be a way to reduce the template edits to 1 and the new plugins to 3 so it might be worth waiting a couple of days for me to update so you can reduce overheads.

Sorry, I forgot to take the edit: comment out. I've made the change so that's as streamlined as it's gonna get for now I think.

I e-mailed the author asking him to re-release or let me re-release. If he doesn't get back in a while I might code my own from the ground up and release it because it is a very useful mod imo.

Awesome. Haven't installed yet, but will be doing that this afternoon as time permits me to do so. If I were you, I would send a PM to the author (Distance) instead of an email... I tried emailing and didn't work - I had better luck with a PM to Distance. He'll get back to you eventually!! He was planning to re-release in the future, but he's currently busy with the real world life, so he just hasn't had time to get to it. But, I'm sure he'll get back to you quickly if you send him a PM about it!!

Just a note for everyone else...

If you've never downloaded and installed this before, you won't be able to import the product through AdminCP until you make one easy change:

Open the xml product in an editor (notepad, etc) and search for "maxversion=" ... it's near the top, in line 10. The default sets the maxversion to 3.6.99 (or close to it). But, the newest vbulletin version is higher than this. So, change that to 3.8.99 (or something higher than your vbulletin version) and save it! Then it will import normally!

Well I've tried this twice now, and I think there's a mistake somewhere along the line. I did everything listed in Pedro's directions, and I'm still having the same problems encountered before doing anything. Nothing posts to the post reports table. Therefore, I can see all the pages (in CP's, quick links, etc) but nothing writes to the database when I report a post on my forum. And yes, I do have the 'create new thread' option enabled, because the threads are being created like they should...

For some reason I no longer seem to be receiving e-mails, I haven't being able to confirm if this is the same for my moderators yet though. You can try and open up the plugin editor for the save reports to database plugin and then paste the following code in there at the start of the Plugin PHP Code box:

Ugh: it looks like Jelsoft have introduced PM reporting with this version. We've also had a couple of problems with merging threads, there seems to be some kind of conflict with. I think I'm just gonna code my own mod from the ground-up because it's hard working with someone else's code and I there's a couple of areas I'd like to improve upon which I just can't do without adding new database tables etc. also there's no way to notify people if I'm just posting here.

Uninstalling it should do the trick, I only had thread move/deletion problems cos I accidentally edited the wrong product's plugin when I was farting about trynna find a fix, lol. I've started work on my own now, hopefully it won't take too long, lol.
