How to stop automatic registration/Need to approve user applications?

Hi there,

I'm using VB 3.6 and I'm having trouble working out how to set new registrations so they need authorisation. I want to set it so they have to write a reason for letting them in and then an admin will need to approve it before they can post.

Anyone know how to do this?

You could add a new required profile field and moderate new members:

vB ACP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field -> Multiple-Line Text Box
vB ACP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Moderate New Members

Alternatively, you could set up a new joinable usergroup allowed to post:

vB ACP -> Usergroups -> Add New Usergroup -> Public (Joinable) Custom Usergroups
Remove posting ability from other usergroups and moderate users via Join Requests
