I am using the default template. I want to add a banner on the right of the logo. Could you please tell me which template this is, as i don't even know where to start.

Look in the vB header template for the following:

<td align="$stylevar[right]">
&nbsp;
</td>

And replace &nbsp; with the HTML for your banner.
