I'd love to see the ability for a site owner to decide on their own layout for the user registraion / profile editing pages.

Something along the lines of decide how many pages you want the registration / profile editing over (more pages with fewer fields to complete allows you to group 'like minded' fields together and end users will be more likely to enter data into the profile fields.)

Then divide the page into a number of rows and columns with the ability add text relating to the field and then choose which profile fields they want to appear in that cell.

You can use vBulletin's templating system to edit the registration page. :)

Look under Registration Templates, and then go to the "register" template to make any changes that you desire.

Or is there some functionality that editing those templates won't allow?

the ability to spread it over more than 1 page...

Oh, I apologize. I did not read over your entire post evidently. :D

This can still be done pretty easily. Would you be satisifed with merely having two sets of registration templates to manually edit, or are you looking for a more userfriendly solution?

I am pretty bogged down in other projects, but I might be able to find a bit of time to get something worked out.

Cheers mate!

Ideally "a more userfriendly solution" :) would be the way to go but "two sets of registration templates" is a start and better than nothing :) as I'm sure it'll be a lot better than the current setup of fields 'lumped together' (only seperation is required and optional firlds) which can be very confusing for users and just off putting.

Breaking it down over a few pages and grouping 'like minded fields' together is definitely a step in the right direction.

Hi Attilitus,

How's things with you? Did you ever get a chance to look at doing some modified registration templates?
