GTUserCP - Enhanced USERCP Interface + USERCP Menu

[Princeton]

NEW 1.1.1 VERSION (download GTUSERCP_111-2.zip)

The 1.1.0+ version now replaces the USERCP_SHELL template. No edits are necessary. However, manual edits are required if you wish to use the UserCP Menu like we have here on vbulletin.org.

If upgrading from a previous version you can revert the "USERCP_SHELL", "SUBSCRIBE", and "usercp_nav_folderbit" template.

Custom modification brought to you by Joe Velez (aka Princeton vbulletin.org Admin).


This modification is a combination of the new vb.org USERCP and the UserCP dropdown menu.

Why would you want to install these features?
Decrease Server Resources
Increase UsabilitySupport modification by "Installing", "nominating for MOTM", and/or donating.

How does this help with server resources?

Typically if you want to edit or view your personal information you would click the UserCP navbar link (wait for the page to load) and click the option you wish to view.

Did you know?

You just hit the server with 11 Queries + HTTP Request + Bandwidth just for visiting the UserCP default page. What's worst is that this is not even the page that you want to view. Yep, you guessed it there goes an additional hit to the server.

Add this modification to bypass the UserCP default page.
The savings are HUGE especially on a big-board site.

How does this help with usability?
Private Messages are the most frequently used user option.
Moving this to the top will give members quicker access.
Displaying custom folders will also bypass some pages (clicks) and therefore decreases server resources.
Collapsing/Expanding some of the options will provide members quicker access to what is important to them.This modification has been reported working on earlier vb versions 3.5.4+.

Instructions:

Install product via Product Manager.
If you want to add UserCP Menu read the README file. This has to be done manually.
Show your support click "Mark As Installed", nominate for MOTM, rate this modification, and/or donate.History:

That was strange i was just trying to click to download that file and it was saying

Think I've spotted another one (sorry!). You don't document the change to the UserCP navbar option so the drop down menu won't appear.


I think it needs changing to something like:

mine is not working, I opened up USERCP_SHELL_REPLACE.txt, copied everything there, went into Admin CP opened up USERCP_SHELL and deleted everything there and pasted everything from USERCP_SHELL_REPLACE.txt, everything in, GTUserCP_README.txt, was already made by me, I saw this same drop down menu on first day of new style here at vBORG and made myself even a better one, but here are my results, :( :( :( :( :(

If you've added any mods that require yo to edit REPLACE USERCP_SHELL simplying replacing the text means you will 'lose' your mod's link.

I think I have a bug.

I use a fixed width of 768px for my forum.

The whole UserCP is fine but viewing a private message, the message window is much wider then it should be and brakes my design.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I just happen to be nosing around my site and found that for some reason the User Control Panel link under Menu in my header navigation bar is broken?!?! When you click on Menu and then scroll down to User Control Panel, a mini user control panel opens in the upper left corner of the browser window. Any idea how to fix this?

You can edit my copy of the USERCP_SHELL template with the edits you made to your current USERCP_SHELL.

Before you do anything, make sure you save a copy of your current USERCP_SHELL template.

I did have the same problem as a few other people here, though. I assumed that all the template edits were in one text file, so I only did one of the edits required.

Any reason for the two separate txt files? It's just kind of confusing.

Anyway, best mod EVER. You get my vote for MOTM!

One of the text file is a complete replacement of the USERCP_SHELL template (USERCP_SHELL_REPLACE.txt).

Separating it into it's own file makes it easier to copy (CTRL+a).

I just noticed that all of my styles after installed this mod has this small problem

in the picture here, the Inbox should not have a drop down arrow. Vb.org does not have an drop down arrow.

I have seen other sites installing this and they have the same problem. It seems to me Princeton forgot to include some intruction in his mod.

Didn't read all the pages, so don't know if this was answered yet. I would you go about on custom template for the navigation? I want to install this mod, but already the first code to change, is different from what i have.


As i seen, most custom templates with custom navbars, the editing is done in header.

Am having a problem since I done mine its working ok but I cnt put the code in the navbar is it messes it up but if I dont eidt any code in the nav bar or subscribed threads it works like a charm.

Except one little problem which is this:

Since I edited template and installed the mod my private messages messed up instead of being located at the right hand side of the USERCP Menu it is below it leaving a huge space inbetween and I dont know why I have tried reverting the templates but it still doesnt work but has only happend since I installed these mods.

I have onclosed some screenshots can u help me with this I really need to fix it and cant afford to make a new style as I will lose all my mods and wioll b too much work.

I tried it with a custom style just by following the instructions and it worked no problem. More than likely you made an error when pasting (make sure word wrap is off when cut/pasting code).

Finally i installed this, looks awesome so far.

But a couple of phrases are hard coded in english, in case you have multiple languages, it's kind of a pain. :D

Of course we can add extra phrases in vB, but maybe some members would appretiate this info in the first post. :)

I would really like to see "Edit Avatar" added to the popup menu! Our members use avatars more then signatures as no images allowed in signatures. So would be very beneficial. Right now this mod makes everything else easier, but harder to find avatar settings.

OK, I got it, me stupid who does not read instructions. I skipped the nav_folderbit. All is fine now. However I had to remove all 3 if conditions in PM

When I try and add a new link (to the invites hack), the background color of the Control Panel box changes... this is the link code I'm trying to add:

This is a modified snippet of the drop down menu portion of Princeton's GTUserCP - Enhanced USERCP Interface + USERCP Menu.
All orignial code is his -- not mine. Therefore I cannot take credit for the original code -- Just my tweaks (which were small).

This snippet creates a visually appealing drop down User CP menu which is very similar to the User CP shell designed by
Princeton. There are a few things that had to be tweaked, such as the PM links and the Subscription Links. -- This is due to calls
to functions that cannot be correctly made while out of the User CP shell, so a simplified version was worked up.
The main feature is the visual design.

The icons for most of the menu are already included or should be installed already. The icons I used for the 'Quick Edit' section
I found at here (http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/mini/)
(A couple of them are already a part of Vbulletin. You just need either the correct link to the files or place them in the correct folder)

Below is the code for the User CP menu.

Again, hope you like it. I don't really want to steal Princeton's Thunder, so again, I cannot take credit for the orignial code, footwork

I think I had some open ended tags. I did have an extra space which I removed. I updated the code in the first post I did about this.

After looking everything over again, I am pretty sure I closed everything. It all looks even on my forum now.

While we are at it, I went back to the original mod and edit the USERCP_SHELL to be more like the dropdown menu.

I need to add a few more icon at the bottom of the USerCP page...but you got the idea. The original has 2 Edit Folders. I removed one of them.

Here's a preview of my UserCP. It's in Dutch but I guess you can see where my problem is.

The names of the folders that users added themselves are smaller than the others. I can't find where the problem is. It's all "smallfont". Does anybody have an idea where the problem could be?

If you have a customized skin the edit may have to be applied to another template.
Suggest you have a look in your header or headinclude templates.
Also the code may have been modified, try a search in templates for $vbphrase[user_cp]

Just installed and it's working fine except one thing ... in my navbar it's showing black area instead of regular silver color like other buttons. Please check the image I've attached and you'll understand what I mean. Any solution please to fix this?

Problem here. In the navbar area, when I hover over "My Account" (my custom name for the user cp default menu), the submenu drops as it should. However, as soon as I hover the mouse over the user cp link/area, that submenu portion pops up in the very top left of the site. See attached.

Try changing it's class or add a style attribute .. Compare it to the other menu items and see what's different.

When I upgraded, (3.6.7) I had nothing but problems with this. I uninstalled it on my live board. I still have it installed on my test board but it's not working correctly.

Note that if you want to make this (x)html valid, all you have to do is wrap the tcat in a thead and the pm thead thing in a tbody.. if you don’t understand then it really doesn’t matter to you :p

After reviewing the 16 pages, seemed like I couldn't find anyone else who had a problem on a new private message being in the usercp. I guess my style is custom that could be the problem. I just removed the whole section, works great now! :)

First of all, thanks for the help. I searched around, and found this in the navbar_link template:
