I ain't sure if this is a mod or something built into VB, There is something on peterska2's forum which posts news for you automatically like a new thread and some description about it, I wondered if someone can point me in the right direction of this hack please

By news do you mean RSS Feeds? If so, vBulletin 3.6 has an RSS Feed Puller built-in.
