CANT TAKE 1and1 anymore! Site down since Thursday! Was told it was network problem, then hardware needed replaced. Turns out it only needed reboot!
I am looking for a new server but have no clue how to move my site(s) from 1and1 to the new server. Can anyone recommend somebody that does it? Vbulletin guys, can I pay you to do it?

how big is your site ? Do you have a shared / dedicated server right now and what are you moving to ?

Dedicated server currently.. Moving to another dedicated server as soon as I pick one. Current memory useage is 6.5GB (so I guess that would be the size of the sites. There are 2 VB forums on the server. Also, I will be setting up 1-2 new vb forums once the server is up and running

Memory Usage is 6.5 GB ? You mean you are using 6.5 GB of HD space. If you currently have CPanel and will be getting CPanel on your new server, you can easily migrate the site using the "copy account from another site feature" in WHM.
You can also use the /scripts/pkgacct (username) function via SSH.
If you need help, PM me or email me at admin@mjwebhosting.com

I can't be sure on that, 6.5 seems WAY low. Everyone uses avitars, I have a bunch of smiles, and everyone puts pics in their posts and signatures. I've got almost 17k members for each site so it just seems impossible to only be using 6.5gb! Actually, my server CP says
Disk space used is 6515 mb... and that translates to 6.5GB right? But that is what it says.
First get a new server.
can do
2nd Back up your databases
um, am working on getting dqbackup setup.
3rd Back up your files
no idea how to do that
4th Move your old files to new server
no idea how to do that
Thats it
simple I'm sure but I don't know how. I was considering softlayer to be my new host but they don't do any backups or transferring of the site from old server to new server. I need a little hand holding.

Web Host manager is part of cPanel, 1&1 doesnt use this, they have their own custom control Panel i beleive, but moving is still simple as about 6 SSH commands.
Judging from your current knowledge this operation maybe out of your realm at this time. You may want to find someone to do this for you if you have valuable information you dont want to risk loosing.
