View Full Version : [vb2] Change Logo per Forum

A friend of mine has been trying to do this for about a year now, and we both suspect that it is very simple. Before anyone suggests, he is happy with VB2 and adament that he doesn't want to upgrade.
Basically he wants the Vbulletin logo to be different in certain forums, how would I go about implementing this for him? I tried using the conditionals hack, but I didn't want to have to manually set that up for 27+ forums on his board.
Ideally it would be cool to be able to choose the logo image in the forums section in the admin cp, how easy would this be to implement?
Any suggestions?

Have a look at this mod

If that doesn't work then let me know.

vb2.0 hmmmmmm
- I'll have to reinstall and get my brain back in to the system .
I have a hack for vb3.x, 3.5x / 3.6x.
- Add a banner image to each forum
It should not be a big deal to convert it.

Thanks guys! I appreciate this, he has a big VB forum and loves the software, he just has been trying to sort this for so long.
I'll try yours now Kerry-Anne (...) and let you both know asap if it works.

If it doesn't, I've rumbled up a little template mod which works very nicely in the 2.3.10 I've tested it on.

It might be better for me to use that then. I am just concerned about having to switch off the board when it has heavy traffic right now (33,000+ members). I don't want to screw up the database with that.
How about I try the template mod first, and if that doesn't work then I can fully try the other route?
Thanks Kerry-Anne!

I appreciate you doing this, and I don't mean to be rude, but I pretty much tried that solution already. It seemed to make the most sense to me. He doesn't want to have 16 versions of the same file uploaded though for bandwidth reasons...
One of the things I wanted to try, but had no idea how to do was to use file_exists to see if a file with the same forum id included existed in a "logos" directory, and if not for it to display the default. Is this possible?
Thanks again for all your help with this, I hope not to have to take up too much more of your time.

Not a clue to be honest. Outside the templates side of things I know absolutely nothing about vB2. The only things I do know are simply through running a test board and using the admin demo way back in the dawn of time (well at least 3.5 years ago anyway).
Unless Zachariah comes up with anything, then the only other thing I can suggest is maybe using two logos in the forums - the main site one and one for that forum. You'd get away with a 1px by 1px clear gif for forums that didn't have a logo specified.
