I run jalopyjournal.com and it features a pretty high volume vbulletin installation. We average about 700 people online at a time, 25,000 registered users, 1.5 million posts, and about 800 gig of bandwidth a month. Currently, I am hosted on two machines...

I'm thinking of possibly making a hosting move and was curious if you guys could suggest a hosting company with a lot of experience with VERY high volume VB sites.

Thanks in advance!

are you self managing your servers or are you paying someone to manage your site ? If you are self managing, you wouldn't necessarily need a company who has experience hosting large vb boards since you are responsible for your servers anyways.

I guess you'd need to be on the lookout for DCs who provide good support and excellent uptime of their network

This interests me too,

Reccomended server co with VB knowledge?

Also - how much would it cost to get someone to manage the server side of a VB forum that size?

For a high volume site like that, you might almost want to look into getting your own dedicated box... Going with a reputable stable host that can supply what you need might be a bit pricey when you can pay just a little more and get a lot more resources.

You would also be able to resell resources you don't use to help with the cost.

Look at www.ev1servers.net for a solution. They start out at 69.00 a month with 512mb ram and 80gb HD. This also has 750gb monthly traffic... You are on a 10mb uplink or you can upgrade to a 100mb uplink for another 10.00 per month.

I do not work for ev1, theplanet, or am I related to anyone that works for these companies...

I've been a customer of theirs and always had great service from them.
