SOFTWARE USAGE: vB 3.6 current ( upGraded as vB upgrades )
PSD SUPPLIED: Yes - ones needed to rework the style , logo - right logo
CHANGES MADE UPON REQUEST: No - but -will change name on logos

Demos : @ homepage ->
3.6 revisted white - fixed (http://gfxstyles.com/?styleid=176)
3.6 revisted gray - fluid (http://gfxstyles.com/?styleid=179)

vBulletin did a great job on the style , just did a little reworked a little of this and that .
Removed the hard corners , rounded tops - a footer & page corners - changed the border to a bit softer color .
font for the header is not what they used .
if you know what it is will rework the psds for them .

SCREEN SHOT:58181
no real changes eXcept for the headers and footers , border - a rounded version of .. .
as many if not all of the templates that could be edited have been to keep the style through out the entire forum - user cp , mod options registration ect .

other mods :
thread starter in post bit
highlighted stickies and announcements
sub forums in columns
and ?. .

style uses the default vB 3.6 images - we just are adding more to the misc dir of the default style .
additional images and some misc ones were improvised .

enjoy ;)

templates for some mods are available , to keep the style uniform @ site .

the code for top in the footer templat is : <a href="#top" onclick="self.scrollTo(0, 0); return false;">$vbphrase[top]</a>

the button goes/ is upload to the buttons dir .

to make it a button or use it any place else can use : <a href="#top" onclick="self.scrollTo(0, 0); return false;"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/_top.gif" alt="top of page" border="0" /></a>

if the button is out of line or not aligned try removing ' class="inlineimg" "

Is there a expanded version for the white style coming?

Edit:
My bad, I see there's one in the zip file ... thanks! Just wished that I could overwrite the default one and retain all of the hacks edits I made to it.

On my main Forum Page I have Forum Names acting as Categories. When clicking on these Categories, Additional Subforums acting as Categories then appear. These Categories then have Subforums. 3 Levels Deep.

On the second level, the Frames for the Subforums acting as Categories are shrunk from top to bottom (height).

Can you tell me how to increase the height? These work fine in the vBulletin Default? In addition, can you tell me how to change the color of just these Categories (subforums)?

If I shouldn't be asking this question, please advise, as I am new. I've now downloaded 2 different skins, both of which are having challenges when I use Categories...going 3 levels deep. Do forum managers not go this deep normally? Is that why I am having problems?

Thanks, Thomas

Here is a link ...I turned the site on so you could take a look. Thanks!
http://www.fishing3.com/

Take a look at the First Main Category TEST 1 the 2nd level categories shrink to hide the descriptive.

Take a look at the Second Main Category TEST 2. When in the 2nd level, the categories are also shrunk, in addition the framwork around the SubForum also disapears when using the GFX style vs. the vBulletin default?

Finally. Take a look at the Suforum's which appear on the second level with both TEST 1 and TEST 2. The Subforum's don't look like subforums as they do in the vBulletin Default. The description and last posts aren't aligning correctly?

Thanks again. I look forward to hearing from you.

when using split forum categories a lay out or order has to be maintained :
Reference this thread : http://gfxstyles.com/f17/before-you-buy-skin-style-460/Known problems :
1. All forums Must" have a Category header, main title in which to list the forums under or they will not display right .
- - Our styles are of the split forum type and must have this Category header .
This can be remedied by changing code and would be a custom set up . This setup may be effected by adding new forums and categories and may or may not need a code change every time a forum is added or a layout change is needed .

2. The category Header is a must , the forums 'Must" be arranged :
- - All Category header with only forums under it .
- - A category header with only categories under it and no forums.
- - With all of the forums or forum 'first' , then the categories at the bottom of the forum listing .
again this can be altered with a custom code that may need editing when forums or a layout change is needed .

90% of people dont' need to worry about these problems, but you need to be aware of them and the problems that it can cause .

its' just a matter of a slight re arranging of the forum category layout .

Never seen such a great and wonderfull style. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much for your excellent work and esp to share with us, Kenj :)

BTW: Just a side note! Is it just me or am I wrong: After installing your style my forum gets more slower than the normal vB standard style. This get me thinking, or am I just being paranoid? Dunno what's wrong, but maybe someone can check it out. No need to rush. So I'd like to see if it's quite normal. Did you ever figure it out? -Mike

Again: Damn good work, Kenj Keep it up!

it has the extra code need to make the changes for the tops and bottoms .

the images themselves add about 20k - including the header images .

speed wise - there may be a slight slowing depending on a lot of things .

connection speed - time to load the slight differance in code .
images - most are reused after the first time by most browsers .
browser - ie is the slowest - firefox then opera . i find makes a differance .
web host - some just wont' send things as fast as others .

our site with mods process in .1 to .2 seconds on the changed styles .
normaly less than 2 sec its done sending everything on any style - server loads under 4.00 .

normal un-changed style is .10 to .15 seconds - still under 2 sec for everything .

its' a little bit of give to get .

bandwidth - couldnt' tell you as all the styles are changed
content served is different every day
- 200megs to 2gigs most is content .

That's really nice of you :) We're looking at adding a paypal donation button for those who don't want to buy a style but wish to contribute, but it's not compulsory lol We enjoy playing around with vB - Ken more so with the coding side than me at the moment as he's far better at it. I'm more into the graphics side at the moment.

I was definitely female last time I looked - or my three daughters are miracles of nature ;) Most people call me Lee or Azh - Lee is short for Lisa.

What impresses me is the fact that Kennethj spent lot of time supporting THEIR FREE STYLE
Last time I checked on vbstyles forum, the support for paid template is not even compared.

This style is one of the best ever  -Mike
Funny I feel the same, Mike

Last time I check, the styleid of this on my forum is 23 :D. some of my current styles are paid and none come close to this. I learn quite applying various mods to heavily customized styles and I come to appreciate the elegance of this style.

Simply put, I deleted all 20 other styles and made this the default style on my forum. There is still 1 or 2 styles left that my members use but I'm sure they will love this

I'm not looking to buy anything from GFX since I'm quite happy with this style but I have no problem donating for all the time Kennethj been helping out.

Count me in as one of your work's fans

Seems like round is the new thing. Did you guy notice the rounded edge of the Option box under Quick Reply that Vb.org uses now ? I don't remember seeing it before.

How did they do that ? Some CSS somewhere? Since this style have rounded edge everywhere, probably Kennethj can look into this.

You need to edit a template - as per this post. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1146957&postcount=21

Please make sure you keep a copy of your existing template just in case something goes wrong. :)

I was referring to my news columns. They're a bit.. too streched? (leaving hardly any room for modules on the left or right for that matter)

Thanks.

kennethj
02-13-2007, 06:25 PM
the images you have in the news bits are 574px wide -

with the spacer of 18 px (36px total) padding for the cells , space in between the right col and center block .
the col has maby 150 or so pxls .

could reduce the spacer some to say 9 , give you some -

then the space between the rows is adjustable in the vBa settings - a bit more .

if the column is still too narrow then its' reducing the image size some .

using a fluid style . can just change a setting in the css to do this - no need to reinstall the style .

the tops and bottoms we added dont' take nothing from the sides - would just make the style taller some because of the split forums .

Serious problem though going on with the Cyb-Sub Forum Manager and this style though, seems it wants to compress, or crush my sub forums that are side by side together on the ends... Doesn't allow them to have there own space... tries to overlap I guess ya can say. :(
