Nick Names
By: Roms
This will display your members nick name/AKA (AKA= also know as) on the sidebar under their avatar. :)
This simple template edit allows your members to type in the nick name they would like to on their sidebar ( ie: AKA: Johnny ). They simply edit thier profile and add the name they would like to use. Their nick name will also show up in their member profile for others to see.
*AKA= Also known as

Not sure (I haven't seen her post/mod) but this was release originally about 8 months ago.... You are going to find that some modifications cross over as we re-add our mods for 3.6.4. From what you say her modifiction may show you how add things in a general way (for all kinds for things to add to the postbit).
In short, she may have a tutorial that tells you how to add something to a postbit but that has nothing to do with this modification. Just because a modification/template edit adds a profile field to the postbit it doesn't mean they are the same. This mod was made for one purpose: to add your members nickname to their post.
Please click INSTALL if you use it..
Thanks

Yeah, I posted up a tutorial earlier in the year. I actually wrote something very similar to this, but then never released it. Obviously we are on the same wave length again :p
Good job though :up:

LOL, that's happened to me a few times. I wrote up a PM button in the postbit and was about to release it and then I noticed you had done the same mod a few weeks before (I liked your version better anyhow. LOL :D ).

What kind of problems? You may need to revert the postbit template and then re-add the modification... LMK :)

<if condition="$post['joindate']"><div>$vbphrase[join_date]: $post[joindate]</div></if>
Try doing a search for joindate in the postbit and place the code after the </if>

Nice mod :)
I had no use for a nickname field but did need something to show a person's old username (after a username change and all the confusion that it causes) so I changed the "Field Editable by User > Yes" bit to "No" and all is good :)

In my postbit template, I have:
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 5,6,7,15)">
<div>
<if condition="$post['field5']">
a.k.a.: $post[field5]
</if>
</div>
</if>
Usergroup 15 is a club member's only usergroup. Basically, when someone joins the club, I add them to a subscription which puts them in 15 as the primary and 2 (Registered Users) as the additional usergroup. I'd like this to be visible to members of 15 but not those who are only in 2.
So do I have to change the way my subscription is set up or the way I have the if condition set up?
