Posted at vbulletin and redirected here. In v3.6.4, is there any way to cross-check existing usernames or e-mail addresses against an admin spam list in the CP (using a mod or otherwise)? I ask as most of what's posted about spam relates to stopping new spam registrations, not flushing existing spam users. I have found that even with the various deterrents, up to 20% of new registrations seem to be spam.
For example, I have a ban list that includes hundreds of addresses/domains from vbulletin.org and elsewhere. However, I have a couple thousand registered users - and it's often difficult to asses who's legitimate and who's not from a username, e-mail, or number of posts.
At the moment I'm scanning the users one-by-one looking for matches, pasting into Google, and re-building a master list (and subsequently sorted in XL and pasted back into vbulletin ban options). It seems this could be automated against a centralized list, or at least set up to flag potential matches that an admin could decide to kill or leave. Has anything like this been done? (saw the aol thread)
