this is something i have seen in IRC chats....

for example....in the channel #c++ they have a bot called calc

so...bot just sits in the room...and when someone types calc sometext

calc will reply with whatever is associated with sometext in the database

maybe you can add items by typing calc add sometext2 blah blha blah blahb

so basically when a certain usergroup who have these priviledges types

CALC vbulletin

calc would reply with...

vBulletin is a powerful, scalable and fully customizable forums package for your web site. It has been written using the Web's quickest-growing scripting language; PHP, and is complemented with a highly efficient and ultra fast back-end database engine built using MySQL.

make sense? but like i said....there needs to be a way for usergroups to ADD and EDIT items. it would be good if they could do it right in their forum posts.

Have a look at talkerbot

It's not quite what you mean, but by using different AIML Files (which you may need to write yourself to your requirements) this should be possible.
