I Have One Serious Idea For A New Mod

and I would like to tell it to 2 or 3 programmers whom of which would like to develop it......since I dont know PHP very well.

anyway...let me know. its a great MOD if youre interested......very one of a kind. im a big fan of unmoderated forums....and this MOD basically is a way to keep control.

i know this mod would sell good too.......but...why pay someone to do it....and sell it....when all someone would do is develop a free clone or something? so eh...i guess its good to offer this for free right?

Also, how does someone know that they can work on it if they don't have any info about what it is?

In short, its a JUDGE & JURY MOD.

For the first phase of it, I would say...

We need to be able to put ignorant users on trial. Once this happens, 12 active users are selected randomly to be the jury. A judge (probably the admin, or you could have a JUDGE usergroup would need to be selected to judge the trial. The judge would get to decide on the punishment for the person who broke a big rule or whatever. I guess there would need to be a list of punishments (ban for 3 day, 7 days, 30 days, etc, or a gag where they cant post, but can only view the board for x days, etc) that the judge would select from.

JAIL
..is the ability to send posts to JAIL. I saw this on were-here.com. For example, at the top of each thraed would be a SEND TO JAIL icon....where if enough users click to send a thread to jail...then it automatically gets moved there. Of course there should be a period...that after a thread gets x views....that it can no longer get sent to jail.
The JAIL section would be basically a FORUM called JAIL...where all the JAIL POSTS are sent.

(what about posts being sent to jail? LOL -Im still working on this)

How would someone get put on trial? Well of course the admin could create/force a trial for them, and the admin would need to give a reason for the trial. I guess there would need to be a NEW TRIAL option for admin. Also, after x numbers of your threads being sent to JAIL...then there should be a trial automatically set up. When a trial is set up....and NEW THREAD is automatically created in the TRIALS FORUM. This thread will have BOARD NAME VS USER NAME, and the date and all that....and who the jurors are......etc.

I suppose there should be an option to set this HACK TO AUTOPILOT or something? LOL? So every single thing is automated?

Um....once the NEW THREAD is created, the jurors will simply vote as GUILTY or NOT GUILTY. This would be a simple drop down list.....where the jurors could change their answer. Admin should also be able to select how many GUILTIES are needed for a conviction. I think all 12 might be hard....so probably good to be able to make this an admin configurable option.

Is that a lot? Im guessing it is....but if this hasnt already been done...Im sure it could win HACK OF THE YEAR or something? hehe.....

I think it might be to much for 1 person though...I mean...to do for free atleast. I think I could create the DB schema though...

for to have the option to send a post to jail....that simple part i think the demand would be high.

I think you would be surprised. I don't know how the logistics of the hack would work - but at a board Ive frequented for some time they used to have a newbie thunderdome - where new users who sucked could be nominated by 2 users, once nominated they would be put in the "thunderdome" where they would basically flame each other - and the one who got beat as per the "judges" decision got a week off.

There is a niche for it I guess lol

Simply do this

Create a new catagory and put a child forum with a passwowd and send it to those who u wish to be in there.
