a little off topic but awhile back i read somthing about hacks interferring w/ the rsvp hack, event forums or the vbadvanced events module hack.. i dont remember the specifics. is this suppossed to be the fix? im just trying to rule out if it was the vbadvanced module being the problem hack in the mix cuz i would like the event forums too.

Mithan,
I plan on uploading a fix for the "Farcaster's Event Attendance" mod tonight that will fix the uninstallation problem. This add-on hack though should uninstall without problems and does not make any database changes.
StuntFactoryX,
Yes, the problem was that my RSVP hack would not work with Evercraft's Event Forums hack. This add-on module integrates the two hacks so that they will work in conjunction.

Just a note for anyone who may be wondering how this works with ranged events:
Even though the Event Forums hack by Evercraft only creates a single thread for a recurring event, the RSVP system will still work with recurring events. Whenever someone opens the event they will always see the current or next upcoming event date. That does mean, however, that the next day, RSVPs will be cleared out for the next event date.

Okay, It's not creating the table(s) in the database... I went into the DB to create the table myself, but I realized that I'd also have to create the fields. Can anyone elaborate on what's happening and why this won't install? I've installed many other mods that access my DB without a problem.

Does that only if the integration hack is installed? I didn't make any changes that should have effected thread and event creation. That may be a bug of vB Event Forums.
To find out, try disabling the integration hack and re-enabling the two disabled plugins under the Event Forums hack.

It sounds like the method my plugin is using to load the phrase might be different than the vb 3.5 method. I don't have a 3.5.x board to test on anymore, but I can try to research this and find out.

I was wounding if anyone knew how to run the Thread create portion of the vb forums stand alone? Editing and saving each event that was added before this was installed is a pain. I need a way to mass create all the accosiated threads by executing a script to create the thread part of the code product. Maybe check to see if event occurs int he next 30 days from today to provent flooding. HELP please.

Instead of people being able to post whatever they wanted in the new event, I'd like to use a form instead so every event is uniform and allows people to search for certain characteristics within an event.

Ok, I must be missing something. I had neither Event Attendance, nor Event Forums before today. BOth sounded perfect for my site (we are a Jeep club in North Texas). SO after reading about both mods, and this integration hack, I installed all three. They were done:
1) Event Forums
2) Event Attendance
3) This mod
So, I can creat an event, and it makes the thread, but I can not see a thing about the RSVP. In my CP, I do see Farcaster's Event Attendance. I'm running 3.6.2. Any ideas what I missed?
Also, we are getting ready to update to 3.6.5, any known issues with that update?

Hi, Just installed this mod in my golf forum in Taiwan. I had the same problem. I checked the code and fixed it.
This problem is caused by the difference of the function fetch_phrase(). you should check all the fetch_phrase() in the xml file, and change all the string 'calendar' to '5'. I hope this would help you.....

Is there a way to have it NOT show who is attending to regular users but perhaps only administrators or moderators? I want to keep attendance information private except for pure numbers, so it would be fine to say "12 people accepted, 3 maybe, 2 can't make it". My users are concerned over anonymity and would not want their usernames showing.

Mike, you could modify the calendar_rsvp_bit template and add encapsulate the entire thing in an if conditional based on the user group. That should do it for you.
Farcaster
07-13-2007, 06:47 AM
All, you may have noticed that after adding this hack, an excessive number of queries were launched each time you brought up a thread with an RSVP event. This was caused by multiple calls to the fetch_phrase function. This has been corrected in version 1.1.1 of this modification.
TheMilkCarton

Thank you for fixing that!
However, the update to your Event Attendance (1.2.0) broke Quick Reply. I can attest to this as I had noticed complaints of this, but it was working fine for me until I upgraded to Event Attendance 1.2.0.
Was this fixed in 1.2.1? The Revision Log doesn't mention it.
Edit: I guess not.. I'll post over in the Event Attendance thread about it, then.

Just reimport the XML file and allow overwrites and you'll be fine. There are no template changes from v1.1.0 to v1.1.1, so if you modified the templates you can keep the modified versions.

Yes, the problem was that my RSVP hack would not work with Evercraft's Event Forums hack. This add-on module integrates the two hacks so that they will work in conjunction.
I have the Evercraft's Event Forums already installed. I am going to install Farecaster's Event Attendance Mod because I would like to allow my users to RSVP "Yes," "No," or "Maybe," for events posted on our forum calendar.
DOES THIS MEAN I NEED TO INSTALL "Farcaster's Event Attendance & vb Event Forums Integration" MOD?

First of all, let me go ahead and recommend this hack for anyone who wants to manage RSVPs on your forum. It has worked great so far.
However, I have noticed a problem and I am looking for a solution. I have found if you edit the time, for example, if an event ends at 9:00 PM and you adjust it to 10:00 PM, it is deleting all the RSVPs. Luckily, I caught this during a test run before I actually started collecting "live" RSVPs. As long as you don't edit the time, it works fine. Also, it lets you edit the body of the event and RSVPs stay intact. It is only when you adjust the time, that it deletes the RSVPs.
Is there an edit that I can perform to fix this problem?
Farcaster
08-11-2007, 11:05 PM
Agilent,
As I mentioned in reply to your PM, that is exactly as it is designed to work. If the time or date are changed, the present functionality is to delete all existing RSVPs for that event.
TheMilkCarton

If the time or date are changed, the present functionality is to delete all existing RSVPs for that event.
I haven't bothered looking in the plugins yet, but can you instruct everyone on how to undo this?? I have no need for this "functionality". It is actually a nuisance to how I'm using the RSVP system.
I'm sort of busy right now, but if you're not going to share how, then I hope to post a fix soon for agilent and anyone else who doesn't like this feature.

I noticed that one can no longer able to create any poll in the Event Forum after these hacks are installed .. Is this the intend? TIA.
I do not support the Event Forums hack. This hack is only a bridge to allow the RSVP system to work with it. You should post your query on the Event Forums thread.
I assume since this is the integration thread this is where I should now post problems? lol. I've got the newest version of all these mods installed. My problem is probably very simple however I've already tried what I thought would be the quick fix. Our threads are showing two first posts.. It seems like one for each mod.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/11/40.jpg
I'm sure this is a common problem.. FYI it also breaks the GT forumrules hack as it shows up for each instance it seems. Great modification I don't know where we'd be without it!

Firstly your event mods are awesome and my members love them.
A couple of members have recently told me about an issue. I'm not sure if this was always there or just recently.
When this mod is enabled it works fine apart from I get a javascript error that disabled the inline mod options when viewing the thread. I disable this mod and the error goes away.
Hope you will be able to point me in the right direction so I can fix this.
I'll attached an image of the js error
Thanks.

Just curious if anyone (Farcaster or TheMilkCarton) has made public on how to disable the deleting of the RSVPs if the time is edited or if it's even possible.
Farcaster, i see you are considering a 3.7 release, would it be possible to make this (delete or leave RSVPs on time change) an admin option in a newer version?
Thanks

One issue with the integration -- when you post a recurring event, you can not RSVP to each event separately (it appears that the events hack only creates one thread on a recurring RSVP).

few questions since this is the only place i seem to be able to get support for this:
1. how can i remove the "post reply" buttons from the calendar event view only?
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6853/64584138ts0.gif
2. would it be possible to have an option to email particular, not all, events to a designated CC list?
3. everytime i setup to receive an email when a new event is posted, a <P></P> is around the actual message in the email. i found the emails to be sent with $eventmessage, how can i get into $eventmessage and disable the <P> code from appearing?

1) The Calendar Event View and the Thread View are completely integrated with this suite of hacks.
2) Not within the mandate of this mod really.
3) $eventmessage can probably be edited via the templates or languages and phrases.

IvyKeepMommy

Keep in mind that this is one of THREE mods you need to have to make this work... you need Farcaster's Event attendance installed, vB Event forums installed and THEN you install this mod to make them work together.
The only thing that doesn't work is that recurring events can't be used since the Event Forums makes each entry ONE single forum thread, so the RSVP's will respond to the entire chain rather than individual events.

Also advertising your own work in the thread of another modification is not allowed. If you think there is a need to discus something, use the appropriate forum for it, if you have coded your own solution, just release it. There is no reason why you should post in this thread about work you are creating.
I'm honestly too lazy to send a PM or anything, to Marco, but I thought maybe you'd want to remove your posts pimping your own hack.
stwilson
01-20-2009, 01:57 AM
Just my opinion BUT I don't consider it pimping. MANY members have stressed a need for this MOD to be updated from the original developer for countless MONTHS. A new developer steps up and answers the call to resurrect a DEAD MOD, yes, a dead MOD and I appreciate that.
Again, just my opinion but the community has been begging for some new life for this MOD. I have personally inquired about updates from the developer with no reply. That's cool, as we all know life takes us on to other things but why stop progress for a much needed MOD.
I'm sure ptwiggens (Pimp Wiggens) will release a fresh new MOD to address an old need. I thank him for that! Again, just my opinion.

You guys are just going to have to hang tight for a little longer. I am currently working on another calendar modification that is more important/useful for my own forums. I no longer use the Event Forums on my own forum because I've had problems with it since 3.7.
And let's be clear, this integration modification is not a full product on its own. It's just a bridge from my on RSVP mod to the Event Forums. It's but one feature of the RSVP mod that hasn't been updated to work with later versions of vBulletin. I can't just hand over one small part to another developer. I'd have to hand over the entire RSVP mod -- which is otherwise working except with the long abandoned Event Forums.

I am currently working on creating a social group calendar modification. It's actually very close. I expect to be able to release a beta version of it here very soon. Although it isn't specifically integrated with the RSVP mod, it plays nice with it, which will allow your members to have social group events that only their members can RSVP for. :)

hmmm....so this is working with 3.8.x? I am thinking about upgrading to the more recent version, but if this mod doesn't work outside of 3.6.x then i can't upgrade since this is the most useful modification on vbb i have installed....

Alright so like many of you...my forum was crippled from this not working on 3.7.2
So here is what I did and it seems to be working just fine.
1) Install vb Event Forums v3.3
2) Link all forums to calendars; BEFORE you install the other two products.
3) Install Event Attendance v1.2.2
4) Install Add-On v1.1.1
If you did these exact steps and it still doesn't work then I dunno what to tell you...
good luck and hopefully there is a legit upgrade soon!
this is the way to go! thanks magnum.

I am guessing that this has not been updated to work with Event Attendance 2?

Nope, and probably never will be. There's some history there that... prevented it from happening in the first place. Anyway, probably just going to have to wait for someone to code their own and release it.

Anyone have any problems when upgrading to Patch Level 1 on 3.8.4?

Any chance of getting this updated to work with Farcaster's Event Attendance v2?

I'm not sure which hack is doing this this one or the vB events hack but here is what I have, I get a single and then another topic post with the roster. Any idea how I can get the first one removed?

I've noticed that on some event listings/forums, the attendance system goes away even if the box is checked. You can edit the event and it still won't show.
Anyone else seen this issue?

Be sure to have marked the check box for 'allow users to rsvp' in the event.
That is checked. I redid everything and still not showing the RSVP form.
When I try to reinstall this product, I get the error below:
The following dependencies were not met:
1. This product is not compatible with version 2.0.1 of the product rah_calendar_rsvp. (Compatible starting with 1.2.0 / Incompatible with 1.3.0 and greater)

I think you've installed the wrong version of the rsvp plugin. What version of vb do you have this installed on?

I'm sorry I never responded. I don't think I ever got the email notification. Did you ever get this working?

Yes for me, but no for everyone else....
So when I try and add an event to my forums it works fine. If I log into a secondary account I have that is labeled as Senior Member, I can post an event no problem. However, If I log into a user's account that is just Member status, I get the above error. The web address it is trying to access is "http://www..com/forums/calendar.php?do=update&e="
Anyone have any thoughts. I checked the usergroup settings for Members and it says Yes for posting, viewing and editing events. I tried both Yes and No for moderation. I tried reimporting that product to over write the existing and still no luck.
The thread does come through as moderated for my approval. Once I approve it, it is a regular thread and not an event thread.

Hmmm...I never got moderation to work correctly, so that might have something to do with it. Have you tried completely deleting the mod and then re-installing? It seems like some of the code is not right somewhere.

Not to state the obvious but....I assume that this doesn't work on VB 4.x and that there's no replacement and nothing in the pipeline...?

There's the standalone event attendance for vb4 here:

But I don't see any event forums mod, so that may not be available.

I'm looking for the event forums mod. It's so essential, I can't understand why no one's had a crack (or a few cracks) at a VB4 version.

I know how critical it can be. I've stayed on vb3 because of it. IPB has it built-in on their newest version, and a plugin is also available for Xenforo. I would be jumping the vb ship if I was in your shoes or revert back to vb3.

Someone has gotten the Event Forums mod working with vB 4.2 - any idea if this will still work as-in?
