Ever been to moreover.com?
http://www.moreover.com/cgi-local/page?o=portal&c=Top%20stories
Well they have a javascript thing that you can put on your website that will display headlines. Anyone can use the javascript to put on their website and feed in news.
I have an idea. I am using the latest XXX by tubedogg and I specify a certain form to post headlines from...
Just my news headlines on my frontpage
Is there a way that we can incorporate this so that people can use a script to display the news headlines on their mainpage like moreover.com does??
I believe phpnuke has this function also
This would add a function to VB that would rule
What do you think?

let me clarify
I run a Rock News site
I want other Rock sites to come and grab the news javafeed off of my site that would pull the latest XXX threads in my news forum to display on theri site
I know how to add those to the front of my site
I want to know if it is possible to incorporate something that will let others add a simple javascript code that will pull the headlines onto their page.
When people click on the headlines that are on the other sites, it will carry them to a news post in my forum
Do it with RDF or XML ... get the other person to call a java script on your site. The javascript can be generated by a cron job every xx second/hours etc.

There's a hack that does this already. News 2 VB or something like that. It works, and imports news from Morevover into a forum - if you import the news into your news forum it will show up on your homepage. I used it for months. :)

That's not what he's talking about. He wants to shoot his news out from one of his VB forums to multiple other sites out there. Probably via XML.
In other words he wants to be able to post something in one of his forums (i.e. "News forum") and have it automatically update the news on all the other rock sites that choose to stream his forums news.
I'd love to be able to do that same thing. I'd also love to be able to do if from multiple forums.

There's a vBSyndicate news hack that allows you to publish the last 10 topics:

smachol that looks really complicated. Is there an easier hack available?
You know something were you may insert a few lines in a few php files and add a couple of templates and get a nice graphic control with a few switches in the AdminCP. Something where you don't need root access to a server or a command line (command lines scare me). In other words something I could udnerstand?
What I'd like is to be able to have a couple of options:
1. Shoot out the entire message from the forum to another site. That way you can have your news (15 complete messages) on other people sites and not just headlines.
2. Shoot out just the headlines with links to where they are posted like what the link to the hack above does. So that people could just throw the headlines in one of their side tables on their site. Kind of like with Phpnuke where the blocks on the sides can have XML news feeds from anywhere.
Then allow both those options to have two more options.
1. Output the latest 15 threads from the baord altogether.
2. Ouput the latest 15 threads from a specific forum. then allow multiple forum outputs so you can have multiple news feeds.
If this is XML is should work with other XMl type stuff like MoveableType and pmachine right? Or for that matter any other app that can receive XML.

Actually that is a very simple hack. I'm not much of a hacker and I had no trouble with that one at all. I'm not aware of any other hacks like this.
