Hello,

This is my second simple hack :). This is easy to use & easy to install.

This will add a QuickBan image to postbit & postbit_legacy.

Features:-
* Show Quick Ban & Unban button for separate usergroups.
* Allow separate usergroups to see the Quick Ban & Unban button and that can ban users.
* Show in postbit & postbit_legacy (no template edits required)
* Enable / Disable whole hack.
* Add a Quick Ban & Unban button of your choice :) OR use the buttons i have attached. >>> QuickBan (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=57220&stc=1&d=1165489323) and QuickUnBan (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=57279&stc=1&d=1165489323).

Good question :).

As i am busy with exams now a days, I will work on that when i have time. That feature will be added in QuickBan 3.0 :). (Click install to get email for new updates).

Upcoming Features are:-

1. You can allow users to ban other users by entering his UserID. This is beacuse if you want to allow only one MODERATOR instead of allowing all moderators.

2. The QuickBan button will be showed in the Member.php.

3. A new button will be added, which will be showed for Banned users and the button will say "Unban this user".

Some questions here:

If I set my super mods and mods to be able to ban, will they be able to ban an a group superior than themselves, like banning the super-admin?

If not, you should add an options like:

This group: 7

but cannot ban these groups: 5,6

something like that...

No they can't. But if you allow the Quick Ban & Unban showed for Administrators then they can. see the screenshot and you will understand anything :-

Thanks for the explanantion which I had a hard time to understand because on the left side, you are saying something and on the right side you say something different according to my own understanding.

This comes back to what I said though. It means that only admins can ban. Because if I put super mods (5) in Can see the Ban and Unban buttons and also in Can ban users, they will be able to ban me!

Sorry to say that but I find it a little bit confusing. I would like to be able to include other groups like my super mods and mods to be able to ban registered users but not to ban any member of our staff (we never know).

I find your mod very interesting and I know it's working very well. It's only that maybe it could be worked out a little bit more to accomodate this option. I don't intend to low it down, this is not my intention, far from that...

I'm using 3.6.4 and the first place i looked was vbulletin options. It isn't there, anywhere listed.

I've downloaded the lastest release of the file and still can't find it. weird.

I really need this feature so, any help you can give would be appreciated.

thanks a bunch, I have no idea why that XML file worked, but after I imported it. A quick ban feature showed up immediately in the options area.

Incompatible for me. Probaly comes in conflict with some other hacks installed.

What it does:

- I see the option in the vBulletin Options of the adminCP. all options are activated in order to see the buttons everywhere and by my group.
- I don't see the buttons in the forum user's profile (and yes the path of the images is correct) for the postbit
-- I don't see the buttons in the forum user's profile (and yes the path of the images is correct) for the postbit_legacy but on top of it, I lose my messages when I wanna go to see them! I see the messages in showthread but when I go on a message itself, it's just not there.

Uninstalled since it's not working for me.

You dont need to find. It adds the button automaticly. No template edits required.

However, postbit_legacy is in "Styles & Templates >> Style Manager >> (yoursking) >> Postbit templates >> postbit_legacy :)

Found a problem, I have some users in a custom usergroup, but since there is an issue with vbsupport and it doesn't work with custom usergroups I had to add them to a secondary usergroup as members and now anyone that is in that custom group the quickban doesn't show up, I have added there number into the admin section but it's still not showing up.

SIMPLE installation. Works great on 3.6.5 forum.

Actually it's quite simple. By default the option "Enable QB for seperate[sic] Usergroups" is set to "2" (registered users).

You need to change this to "2,8", so it includes banned users (group 8) as well.

Why? Well as soon as a user is banned, they stop being a member of group 2, so the buttons (either of them) won't show anymore.

The author should really change the defaults so everybody doesn't run into this problem.

I'd just like to report a problem with this mod. Instead of checking to see whether the admin or mods are members of a group, it checks only their primary group membership.

This means that if you have moderators who have a group membership of the moderators group based on a secondary usergroup, this mod won't work the way you expect it to.

Well I'm not sure I can understand exactly what you mean because you haven't phrased your question very clearly.

You may be referring to the permissions required for mods to ban people - but this has nothing to do with the mod, this is set on a per moderator, per forum basis. In the forum manager select a given moderator and edit their moderation rights to this forum. This is where you'll find the option "Can Ban Users"

It clearly states that you can configure your own button (even looking in the options in AdminCP will tell you this) and provides links for you to download a quickban button. Instead you'd like to raise an issue about missing buttons that aren't missing?

What I did was set both of the unban and ban buttons to qb.gif (in my images / buttons dir)
YOU CAN QUICK BAN THE THREAD STARTER.. but you cannot QUICK UNBAN him. (users that are banned)

I can QUICK BAN users in my custom skins but cannot QUICK BAN users in the default skin (user selection is OFF)

POINT IS I THINK THIS IS STILL 2.0.1 and YOU forgot to make it so that ppl can be quickly UNBANNED.

I had a look and found the cause:

See those {0}, {2}, {4} and {6}? The correspond to a character position in a string. So imagine your string is 1,2,3,4 - those character positions would match up. But as soon as you have 10,2,3,4 the whole thing falls apart. because those values will return 1 , , ,

I'll leave you to decide whether you think this was a good idea... I could rewrite this section, but then, given my previous rewrites, that would be almost the last part of the mod which I haven't totally rewritten. Given that this mod is marked as supported but the author hasn't shown up in some time to fix all the problems, I'm not inclined to bother!

Well I was gonna install this, but since Seiyaboy pointed out it does not support Double Digit Usergroups I wont even bother installing it since I wont be able to use it properly. I hope mfyvie takes it on himself to fix the code, but I know that is not his job, as he did not create this Hack. Where is the author of this hack? If you mark something "Supported" why would you not Support it!

I say that mfyvie should just release his own Quick Ban & UnBan Hack with all the fixes he has already added including adding the support for Double Digit Usergroups. Come on, what do you say mfyvie?

I did actually raise this issue with the staff, but they said they don't have a policy of removing the supported flag if the author doesn't seem to be around to support it. They suggested I release my own hack. However, releasing my own hack would basically mean re-writing this from the ground up. It's not a difficult mod, but I'd rather focus my energies elsewhere. I plan to write a "One-touch ban and cleanup" mod which will provide the same sort of thing as this mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93762) but implemented a little differently. Once I've written that mod, I'll uninstall this one from my own forum.

^ Oh I see, well you've already re-written basically this entire hack in order to fix the Author's Errors in coding, all that's left in being re-written is that Double Digit Usergroup error ... Maybe take a stab at it whenever you get a change and release it? ;) ...

I did read that, I DON'T think you understood what was being asked. We were asking for a separate or different image, instead of having to go and find one our selves, Not that we couldn't find it, nor could we configure one ourselves.

oh well i used it and it doesn't show unban button after banning someone,you have to go to admincp to unban it.the other thing is i couldn't add more than #2(registered group)looks like it works only for id 2.not for promoted groups :confused:

I've done a quick fix for the double digit problem.

1. open the quickban_button template

2. search for OR $bbuserinfo[usergroupid]== $vboptions['ugroups_can']{6} between the <!-- ALLOWED USERGROUPS --> box

3. add your usergroup like this: OR $bbuserinfo[usergroupid]== 123, replace 123 with your usergroup id

example:

first of all i think again that the owners of this forum should do something about these coders that does not support theire creations because it can cause serious problems for those who have no knowlidge of forums and edditing templates etc etc etc
