This plugin restricts a certain browser from accessing your site.When that browser tries to access your site an alert will say that the browser is not supported and will close the window.

Thanks for this, awesome hack to force more to download FF or Opera!!!

Ban any user that uses IE is the way to go ;), there can be some benefits of it actually to keep them bots from trying to sign-up and spam your forums if you don't use CAPTCHA you know! A lot do use the IE library so this is a very useful hack indeed.

Possibilities of add-ons to this hack:

1. Perhaps a nice redirect to Mozilla or Opera would be a nice addition to this....
2. Multi-select which browser(s) are banned rather than just ONE type...

i agree with those suggestions by blogtorank...

someone comes to the site, gets a message saying "What is your problem" (phrase it if it's not already phrases) then then some text below this (settable in ACP?) where the admin can type whatever they want...like a paragraph about why firefox is better and a link....

I don't like the idea how it closes windows. What happens if someone has few tabs open in the same window, loads the site with this hack installed, and then closes the whole window with the tabs. That would kinda sucks.

but for the people that would use it that would be ok with them...

say an IEsucks.com forum...operasucks.com...firefoxsucks.com (WHAT??!?!?!...lol)...or a multitude of other things...

I personally don't mind any of them....i just prefer firefox...but if i did make a site like that it would just be a neat feature to have...similar to a few sites I have that don't work if you type in www.beforethedomainname.com...because i'm a strong supporter of the no-www movement...my personal beliefs actually override my need for members on those sites...

so...that was just my long-winded way of saying some people might not care if they lose some sign-ups because of it :D...still a neat option for some

I like Opera best, its way faster and beats firefox as stock and even with modifications and skins. But after a while, im not sure the problem but it slows down to like 1kb/s when you used it for like 6 months. Happened to me lots :(

The main maple story website doesn't allow any other browser than IE.One purpose of this.And perhaps you have a bug in your style that crashes in FF.

What would be cool was, instead of it closing, you put your referral link to download Firefox on it (I'd only restrict IE) so that way people will be downloading and installing FF with your referral link, which should start to make you a hefty dollar...but I guess that would also depend on your audience, whether they are computer illiterate or not.

Interesting. Does a large majority of the internet use Firefox over IE? Because my forum has certain things Firefox users can not do and use. I feel like restricting Firefox users but there wouldn't be much point if half or most of the internet users use Firefox. Thanks for the help.
