Hi, i am the owner of the ThreadSoup.com (http://www.threadsoup.com) social bookmarking site for forum threads.
About TS
The site is basically a digg style site for forum threads. Forum junkies and fans can gather to find cool new threads on forums from all over. The site will allow you and your members or visitors to submit cool, interesting, or downright funny threads they find on your forums. This will attract new members to your forums but most importantly it'll add great exposure to your forums and allow people to see the best threads your forum has to offer. Whether they be directly related to your overall forum topic or offtopic stuff. And, of course, it's free backlinks
I have begun advertising and driving traffic to the site. I plan to advertise it on my high traffic sites and pay for links on other high traffic sites so the traffic increase will be substantial. I'll also be promoting on myspace.

Why would we want to drive users or link content to a brand new site with no reputation?

Because I am heavily promoting it and it already got 800 uniques yesterday..
Bottom line here is that I am an expert SEO and site promoter. I have plenty of sites that get thousands of uniques per day so I know how to promote a site. Unlike similar site owners, this is not a hobby for me. It is my livlihood.
I'm not only promoting this site in the forum webmaster community but I am also promoting it to the general public so that I actually have some traffic to send to all the webmasters submitting threads. With this mod soon your users will be submitting threads so you don't have to.
My reasoning behind this mod is simple. The more people that find out about ThreadSoup on your forums and others the more traffic ThreadSoup can send to any forum that gets a link on the front page.
It's a social bookmarking site so people will bookmark your forum threads and share them with others. At a minimum you get free backlinks. So you can choose not to allow your visitors to bookmark threads on ThreadSoup if you like but the reality is, if they don't bookmark yours they'll be bookmarking someone elses...

OK, best of luck with it.
Hello,
You are pretty good at promoting your site seeing as you benefit more than anyone else. lol A link back to your site is on every thread of every forum that installs this. lol
The same goes for the other guy that has a similar mod on this site.

The same goes for the other guy that has a similar mod on this site.I thought I was the only one who got a good laugh out of this. ;)Well as I said I am good at promoting sites. Is this not a good method? What's funny about using a method that works? Clue me in.
And doesn't more traffic and and backlinks to threadsoup = more traffic to the forum threads on the site? Doesn't a higher page rank value on threadsoup = more backlink power for the threads on threadsoup since unlike others, I actually give you a live backlink, not a redirect.
I mean basically what you guys are saying is the traffic on digg.com and all the buzz it has only benefits digg.com. But anyone who's had their site on the front page of digg can tell you that's a pretty absurd notion.
I guess when you're cynical it's easy to find comedy in things. Enjoy. :)

no tae,you need to register on your site :cross-eyed: before you can add a link

Yeah if you really want this site to take off I would remove the requirement to signup to give your vote or suggest a link.
You gotta wait till you hit digg status to force people to become members of something.
Any chance you can make this happen?

Show me a site with decent traffic that allows you to post links without registering and I'll show you a site full of spam.

i don't doubt your site might have decent traffic and I think your tool is great for forums.
What doesn't appeal to me is that your top "soups" only have 2 votes.
I only suggest opening the door till people get addicted to your site then require a sign up.
If you want to keep an eye on spam don't require sign ups and have people moderate the submissions for the time being.

Fair enough and not a bad idea. I'll see what I can do.
Thanks.

It's actually not a terrible idea. And of all the Digg rip-offs I've come across, at least this one serves a somewhat unique purpose and seems to have (even if it's minimally fleshed out) a marketing plan.
With that said, I think I'd hardcode a $vote = $vote + 20; in there somewhere to kick things off. :)
Oh, I don't know if its on purpose, but the line from the big text links crosses over the digg boxes and looks kind of goofy.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)
ThreadSoup no longer requires users to register to post your forum threads.
Now you or your users can stop by and post as many threads as you like whenever you like. FREE backlinks!
You can also vote for threads without being logged in. This will help boost site popularity among readers and get even more activity going.
Doing great so far. Thanks again!

Cool I'm going to make a public announcement in my forums that people can now post without having to sign up. This should really stir things up.

Did thread soup die? You can no longer submit threads or search or tag cloud links or anything anymore. It all just errors out. I liked the concept of this site...

I can't submit a site or anything.
All I get is this.
Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
[code=DNS_TIMEOUT] A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup.
Please contact the administrator.
I did join the site and it works that way, but nothing else does.
