I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting a simpler permissions manager for a small vb install. What we have is great but is designed for complex large installs.
My idea is for forums that have up to 100 members, maybe more but def this size needs a simple manager.
The main thing I find is that usergroups are hierarchical and too complex to manage access. Access Masks good but too fiddly opening them one by one.
I want another Members List in the admin cpanel
With the main root forums horizontally like a table or grid
with small boxes/ cells/ tickboxes
Then I can simply tick access for each member to the forums that fit them.
With this I can see at a glance (or over no more than 3 - 4 pages)
which root forums any member has access to.
If subforums
can click visible link on title row box of parent forum
to get new horizontal list of subforums
with vertical Members list of all allowed through the parent forum
OR full list of Members if override wanted over the parent access granted
Similarly tick access
Each member name on the vertical list has link to its Access Masks and to its permissions individually like in its admin cp.
Link to switch into the standard Forum Manager (link at top of whole grid)
also link to a specific forum manager (link beside forum title on top row of grid)
For me I want also buttons/ radios under Forum name
Option to make a forum Read Only for All/
or Read Only with Selected posters/ mods
again select these from vertical Members List
OR have static group of mods that always apply.
Or this could be added to the Forum Manager for that forum.
Might be a couple of other global forum types others would like to have settings here to tick but not much room in grid form
unless a second row under Forum titles.
Other than that the existing stuff could be used to add detail.
