This is the 3.5 version of the already existing product for 3.6. Read all about the features it in that thread:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=131150
This is exactly the same, but compatible with 3.5 versions of vBulletin.

Guys this is by far my favorite hack! I use it a TON on 3.6 and will be installing it on my 3.5 forum tomorrow. If you use Google and other ads this is a must hack. Great job RedTyger!

Thank you for this RedTyger. I only have 1 problem now, when I log out my header and footer banner ads are gone. It only appears when my users are logged in. Any thoughts?

Have you added Usergroup 1 to your inclusive usergroups in the global settings?

Thank you RedTyger, that worked.

I'm running cmps and I've encountered a small problem. When you visit my site here (http://www.strugglingactor.net) you'll notice the ads in the left module and everything is running fine. The only problem is that I also want to display left advertisement in my forums as well but it clashes on my home page where cmps lives. In doing so, It displays 2 left ad colums. I tried to tweak my global setting but if I disable my left ad space on my "home" page, my header ad will be denied as well. Any solutions?
EDIT: I moved all my cmps modules to the right but I really don't want to do this. It fixed the problem but do you think it would be a great idea to set global permissions individually? For example allow header and footer to show on my home page but disable left or right column ads and vice versa. That would be awesome.

If you have no other ads running on that page via the Ad Management, you could disable them for the CMPS page by adding adv_index to the list of script exclusions in the global settings.

Yes, I thought about that as well but I'm running image ads in both the header and footer on my home page and that's what visitors see when they go to my site.
RedTyger

Try doing it via the templates then. Open the right/leftcolumn_advertisement templates and at the top of both add:
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'adv_index'">
and at the bottom of both templates add:
</if>

I followed the above mentioned mod to a T and it didn't work. Should I modify my header template?
chkdgate

<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'adv_index'">
and at the bottom of both templates add:
</if>
Is this code correct?
Edit: It kind of worked but it also removed my header and footer banner. I had to make a new module in cmps to host my left banner but it's just not the same. I'll leave it like this for know or until we figure it out.
RedTyger

Are you sure you added the conditional to only the left/right_advertisement templates? And didn't add that THIS_SCRIPT to the global settings in the AdminCP?
chkdgate
12-14-2006, 07:54 PM
Yes. What do you think that could be though?

Try this version of the plugin attached. If it works, the changes are marked with:
// EXCLUDE L/R COLUMNS IN CMPS
since you'll have to add it again yourself for future version of course.

This worked like a charm and I'm back to normal. There's only one problem now, my ads are only showing in my left column when browsing through my forums. Right columns ads are still disabled and I also made sure that all my settings are correct. It's okay for now but if you can come up with any ideas, just let me know. Thank you bigtime for this.

Sorry, I'm completely lost now.
You want ads in your left AND right columns, but only when browsing your forums and not on the CMPS page, is that correct?

You got it! It really isn't a big deal but my original goal was to run image ads on my left and text ads on my right or vice versa.
Btw, I just voted MOTM. This is such a feature rich hack for anyone running adsense.

They're not showing up at all.
RedTyger

And you definitely have ad code entered for the right column? Sorry, I have to ask!

I must be an idiot, but I'm having no end of problems.
Problem #1: I'm running vb 3.5.4. I downloaded your product, began installing, and can find nothing in the header template that looks like  .
Problem #2: I can't find anyway to access the product itself so I can begin using it. Should it be on my control panel or what?
What am I doing wrong?
RedTyger

#1 If you have a modified theme or template then won't be there. Just add it where you think best, I can't really place it for you. Just move it or remove it until you're happy.
#2 There are several sections at the bottom of your main vBulletin Options list to change the settings.

Thanks for getting back to me, but could you give me some examples? I guess I kind of expected this to have its own grouping in Vbulletin options where I could insert urls to ads. Since this isn't the case, what sections should I be looking for to insert the ads?
Sorry for asking such a dumb question; I'm really trying!!!!!
RedTyger
12-21-2006, 01:34 PM
Not at all.
All the options should be at the bottom of the list on this page, obviously change YOURDOMAIN to the URL of your forum:
http://YOURDOMAIN/admincp/index.php
This is the global settings page - if it doesn't exist then you should uninstall and reinstall the plugin with overwrite set to yes:
http://YOURDOMAIN/admincp/options.php?do=options&dogroup=adintegrate_global
It may have it's own grouping soon. I know it should really, but the method for doing so is a big pain in the behind and not very intuitive compared to that method so I didn't do it.

I uninstalled and then re-installed, and seem to be having an installation problem.
This is what I get after I hit "import."

Now we're getting somewhere!!!!! It installed fine and it's showing up in the AdminCP and everything! Woo-hooo!
But on to other problems. I have zero coding experience, and when it asks to put in the code for the ad, I'm putting in something like this:
http://www.MYFORUMNAME.com/images/ads/ADNAME.gif
That didn't work. So I tried this:
<a href="http://www.MYFORUMNAME.com/images/ads/ADNAME.gif"></a>
And that didn't work, either.
What am I doing wrong? What should I be putting in, code-wise?
Again, thanks for your help. And sorry for my complete incompetence.

Done and thanks for all your help! This is a great hack, and you've been very supportive.
A couple more questions:
1) Is there a way to make different header & footer ads for each forum?
2) I'm having trouble with the left column ad. I currently have what's essentially a two column layout: the narrower left column has forum stats above text google adsense ads, the wider, right column has the actual forum stuff (threads, etc). When I use your code (and get rid of the google adsense, since I want to replace it with my own ads), I get a third column to the left of the existing left column, and the right column essentially collapses -- the footer moves above it and it's just a mess.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

1) Not in such a way as you could manage them like you can now, no. It would have to be manual template edits, there's lots of information about that both here and on the vbulletin.com forums.
2) If it's a custom layout I couldn't guess how to fix it, you'd have to get someone to give it some personal attention probably. Could try asking the author of the theme the best way to add columns? They're are a pain in the behind to do even on the default layout. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just the way it works. Sorry.
