Any mods to turn off the option users get to not receive email from admins?
It's essential to my site that they do receive email from admins, and some users are turning it off, not realising they get excluded from our mailing list.

It is a right of every person to make themselves excluded from your mailing list. Restricting the option would violate various laws such as the can-spam act (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/canspam.htm) and you can get yourself in trouble. Although it is possible to achieve what you want with little or no effort, I would strongly discourage doing it.

Note that I run neither a commercial enterprise, nor am I based in America.
Anyway, the can-spam act simply requires that I provide an opt-out option on emails rather than on user registration.
This kind of system would suit me better, as I could get users who wish to opt out to email me and we could discuss their reasons for it - at the moment I suspect some users are opting out without realising exactly what they are doing.
Our mailing list, as I said, is an essential part of the system I am trying to create.

I gave you a sample law. Non-commercial sites must still provide a way to opt out, and in this case it is the usercp option. I, personally, if I found that a site does not have such option, would immediately change my e-mail to something fake and never visit such site again. If you are trying to create a system, you must not limit the privacy of your users...

Well, in any case...
Replaced the relevant formfield in the 'register' and 'modifyoptions' templates with:
<input type="hidden" name="options[adminemail]" value="1" id="cb_adminemail" $checkedoff[adminemail] />
..as just deleting the formfields causes the option to set to 'no' on registration/user update.
Confident that users are still receiving ample opportunities to protect their privacy. It's still not difficult for them to opt out, they just can't do it without thinking.

Thanks TLove for posting that. I've been looking for it. Found the template where to edit, but didn't know what removing the option itself would do.
I agree with you. I run my site a similiar way the emails are important, if they want to opt out they can use their own spam filter, or ask for their account to be deleted. No reason to give the opt out option during the sign up process.

Thanks.
I've always found opt-out during forum sign-up to be counter-productive.
A person doesn't have any "right" to be a member of a site. Sites are private. If receiving e-mails are required, and you don't want e-mails, then you're not going to be a member. Easy enough, I'd think.

I couldn't agree more.
What exactly am I replacing in my 'register' and 'modifyoptions'? I know I'm replacing something with ...
<input type="hidden" name="options[adminemail]" value="1" id="cb_adminemail" $checkedoff[adminemail] />
but I'm confused as to what I need to be looking for in the 'register' and modifyoptions' templates. Can someone tell me?
