SEO YouTube and Google Videos

This mod was inspired by by Embed XHTML valid YouTube and Google Video into your posts (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=130868) but this mod contains some bugs and isn't complete so I then needed to modify it and decided to do it really well and aply SEO technology to it.

This mod will enable your users to publish YouTube or Google videos on your forum. It's managable via the adminpanel and the script will automaticly download the titles of the videos from YouTube or Google Video and store it in the database so it will get the videos indexed verry well and it's fast.

Some of the features:

Custom tagnames, manageable from the adminpanel
Automatic Video Title retrieval, with optional support for Lib Curl and user-simulated video title retrieval
Custom editor icons, managable from the adminpanel
Template based Google or YouTube video output
Support for local Google Video servers, to make your site local
Phrases for all text so it has support for multi-lingual forums
Optional, extend all links within the video with rel="nofollow", customizable seperately for YouTube or Google Video
Custom Video titles via tag option (...)

Ability to configure usergroups that have access to delete videos.Instalation:

Import the XML product
Upload the attached icon images (or use your own)
Default is:
/images/editor/google.gif
/images/editor/youtube.gif

Open htaccess.txt, configure it (replace yourdomain with your domain), save it as .htaccess and upload it to the root of your forum
Run the included installer

The installer will also upgrade previous instalations
Bug: when you run the installer more then once, multiple of the same indexes are created. I haven't found a way yet to prevent this. I have posted some messages on MySQL forums to find an answere and will then upgrade the installer. For now it is adviced to run the installer just once and for upgrades it is adviced to check the PREFIXseovideos table after upgrading to see if there are any duplicate indexes configured to remove them if needed.
To install the Videobar anywhere on the forum use the folowing code:

i am using custom bbcode for youtube so if i want to install this mod i should uninstall the bbcode am i right? and how this is looks in postbit? can you show a screen from there too?

You could keep the YouTube bbcode if you want by disabling YouTube within the adminpanel or you could delete the YouTube bbcode and use this mod.

What vBulletin version are you using, it might be that vBulletin 3.5.x doesn't have support for product based MySQL instalation and uninstalation instructions.

If so, you could look in the product on top to see the MySQL to execute (2 queries, 1 to create a table and 1 to optimize it by setting an index).

It might be that this mod also works with vBulletin 3.5.x when you install the MySQL manualy.

Well, for my users I don't need this ability and Any Media might be better for it as it's already developped and existing for some time. This mod is just for implementing support for publishing of free hosted videos.

But if I need it in the future I will extend this mod for it.

Well, I don't know for sure. It should work I think since the verification functions are actualy standard preg_match PHP functions.

But maybe a sertain hook is placed on a difrent location in vB3.6.0 so that the variables required to check on aren't available.

Best would be to upgrade to 3.6.3.

Ok, it might be that it is due to that I don't use the vBulletin MySQL object but the default PHP MySQL functions wich work fine on my server.

I will upgrade the mod to use the vBulletin MySQL object to see if this will fix the problem for you.

Why? Because this mod does not change any links.

I've upgraded the mod however so it uses the standard vBulletin database functions, wich might make it faster.

I am verry verry sorry for this, I uploaded an untested product and then tested it to see this error, I then deleted the product but you must have downloaded it within these 5 minutes.

It's fixed now, please download the latest product for it to work.

Just so you know: The only MySQL that is used is to:

check the seovideos table to see if a video has been parsed before, if so it will return the information.
insert the information of a video into the seovideos table after parsing the video.There is no other MySQL used in this mod.

Well, the latest product should fix this as it doesn't use standard PHP MySQL functions anymore wich might have been the reason that it didn't work.

But I don't think this could cause change of information in the database.

But if you would like and have time for it, could you please test if the latest product works for you? So if it doesn't work, I could try to find a solution for it.

well new error trying to run the php script:

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ENGINE = MYISAM' at line 6

fixed it sort of by changing 'ENGINE = MYISAM' to TYPE=MYISAM. It creates the table but give a false error of not being able to update.

Got it working but now I ahve a problem

When a video embedded into a thread is deleted by deleting that post or thread, a sql entry is retained into the database. Not only that but it seem two entries are entered.

Would it be possible to have it so when the thread or post is deleted, the sql entry is deleted? Or at least a function in the admin CP to allow the pruning of the table?

There is also the issue withthe ID only reading 0 on all the sql entries

And lastly, you can not put in the whole link for a google video, it hasto be only the id number?

Indeed, you will now need to use the installer to install the database as the build in XML MySQL instalation doesn't seem stable.

Regarding the contents of the tag, you can even post the embedding codes and it will work. (thus also just the ID will work) so you don't need to change anything to use this mod.

I will add a function wich will delete videos from a post that is deleted.

Regarding the ID only issue, I will investigate it now.

Regarding the whole link, you should be able to post anything from the google video site with the video ID included to get it to work, even the embedded code should work!

Nice hack! ;) But maybe this just isn't meant to work with vB 3.6.2 as I'm running.

I ran the videos_install.php and seems like it ran correctly:

MySQL database updated, added table "seovideos" to the database.
MySQL database updated, added index "video_id" for table "seovideos"

I'm attempting to work this hack now. I tried to insert a google video by adding copying and pasting the url to the video in the bbcode....but got the following database error:

Well, that might be a bug wich has been fixed now.

I've added "latest videos" for on the index page (you can also set from wich forums you want to display videos) and tomorow (later today, it's 6:34 am now) I will complete the forum specific video bar.

Looks to me like you need id , type , video_id , title, post_id, forum_id, date_added but you only have id , type , video_id , title as fields. What should post_id, forum_id, date_added be? INT(255)?

there is still the issue where you can only link by ID and not the entire hyperlink but that is actually ok, it should be like that.

Ok fixed it:

Find:

At YouTube only the full URL works. Only ID?s are ignored. :confused:

Youtube requires the full path right now and google requires everything after ?docid= and before either &q or &hl or both (which meansa - and all the numbers).

One more bug i noticed only once is after editing a file and viewing it, the header information on top of the browser said "#postid=xxxx, postid=xxxx" instead of the name of the post.

Basically the code is not finsihed yet and the install script doesn't add a few neccessary tables.

Don't mean to be harsh but if oyu do not understand how to removed tables from phpmyadmin, you probabbly shouldn't install addons without making sure they are working first.

If the author doesn't fix this today (I am sure he will), I will see what i can do to make an uninstaller for the mysql end, even if a crude one.

My appologies for all the bugs, but I want to ensure you that all will be fixed and optimum within a matter of days as I am actualy developing this mod for my own forum so it will be worked on untill it's done and it will be optimized.

Today I will develop an errorsafe installer and complete the video bar feature.

The installer will also make sure that if your tables are installed partly that the instalation will be completed.

Yes, you can turn it off from the adminpanel aswell as the videobar or one of the video hosts (e.g. alowing only Google Video). Also from the admin within 2 clicks.

So the .htaccess isn't needed, it's just for the Video Index.

I will now develop a simple admin for it so you can delete videos, the duplicates might be due to previous bugs in wich the videos didn't get deleted when you deleted the post.

The admin will be verry simple and ready in 20 minutes.

The admin is ready, it will add a [X] with each video on the Video Index wich enables you to delete that video, you will also be redirected back to the page you were visiting so that it's fast.

You can change the location of the adminlink via the videobit template and you can configure multiple usergroups with access to delete videos from the adminpanel.

Regarding vBa, it should be possible to add the videobar by using the code I mentioned before: <!-- SEO Videos Index Bar -->

Let me know if that doesn't work, if not please seek support at vBadvanced and tell them you want to have a plugin from vBulletin on hook global_start to work on your vBadvanced page.

In the adminpanel you can configure the folowing for the Video Bar:


Latest Videos Bar on Index
Set this option to enabled if you want to use the SEO Videobar containing the latest videos of all or specific forums on the Mainpage.
Amount of Videos to show on Index
Enter the amount of videos you want to have shown on the forum index.
Index Video Bar Forum Sources
Enter the ID's of the forums from wich you want to show videos on the index.
Seperate each ID by comma without spaces: 1,2,3.
Video Index
Configure if you want to enable access to the Video Index.
Video Index Page Videos per Row
Enter the videos you want to display per row, your video index postbit will be repeated on one row for the amount you enter here.
Video Index Date Format
Enter the PHP format to use for the {date} variable on the Video Index.
Video Index Page Videos per Page
Enter the amount of Videos you want to show per page on the Video index.
SEO Video Administrator Groups
Enter the Group ID's of the usergroups that have access to delete videos.
Seperate each usergroup by comma like 1,2,3.

To change the design of the Videobar, you can edit the videobar template in the SEO Videos Templates template group.

By configuring to show just 1 video per row you will be able to generate an horizontal videobar!

Regarding MyVideo.de support, I might add this when I start a German forum as I might since I am planning to take over the forrestry market on the internet starting with The Netherlands: http://www.bosbouw.net/ and when the site is perfect expanding to Germany/Austria/Switserland (german speaking countries) and then English speaking countries and further to China, Japan etc. So there will also be a forum and when it's confirmed for me that my users might want to use myvideo.de I will add it for sure.

The latest product (XML) contains a fix for that error. It's because the forum specific videobar was just partly developped.

Regarding videos.html to work, you need to upload htaccess.txt and rename it to .htaccess.

For this you need Mod Rewrite enabled on your server. It will rewrite videos.html to index.php?video=1 (in wich 1 is the page number).

I'm aspecting that a plugin is started after the plugin for the SEO Video mod that overwrites the SEO Videos video index html.

You could edit the plugin SEO Videos Mod - Video Index on hook forumhome_start and set the Execution Order to a higher value so that the plugin will overwrite the other plugin again, but in this case just for the video.html page.

Yes, I've removed the Video Bar per forum option since you can also use the Video Index bar for a specific form and place it on a specific forum.

I can confirm that with this mod active, you can not click on the smilies to put them in a thread. This may not touch the code directly but it is interfering with the post controls.

Regarding the bugs, these will be fixed but there is an other solution that I will continue the development of Any Media for vB3.6.x and making it SEO adding for example Video Indexes, Video Search and some SEO features to get your posted videos indexed in Google and other search engines (the right way, google will actualy love you for using the mod so that it is able to know what kind of videos are to be found on your forum or specific message).

Since this mod may take 100+ hours to complete, I will require a small icon to be placed on the video display screen linking to http://www.publiceren.net/ with information about the free mod (no spam etc, I am just interested in the SE value for my domain).

If enaufh users agree (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=131739&highlight=any+media) on this, I will start working on the mod today untill it's completed.

Mod Rewrite is an technique to enable URL rewriting on Apache. It will enable you to show for example message-1.html to the users in the browser while actualy message.php?message=1 is loaded.

videos.html will actualy load index.php?videos=1 (1 = pagenumber).

So you could also load the video index via http://www.domain.com/?videos=1

I just spoke to Crist from Any Media, the number 1 media mod for vBulletin 3.5.x and we agreed that I will continue with Any Media and make it availabe for vBulletin 3.6.x.

The new version of Any Media will be called Any Media 3.6.x and will be official linked to from Any Media 3.5.x.

I don't know yet if it will remain the same and if all features of the old version will remain and what new features will be added but I will try to make it as perfect, stable, optimum and fast as possible.

The mod will be free but will require an icon/link on the video display wich can be removed by paying a small fee.

I was able to post both Google and YouTube video from my forum. However, when I tried to reply to a google video post, I got these errors:

1. CMPS module which can display multiple videos.
2. Your own player instead of using the Google & YouTube players (similar to AnyMedia but working) compatible with both IE & FF and autostart on/off option.
3. Allow videos from other sites such as .wmv extensions (similar to AnyMedia).

You should not create the video.html on your server, it should not exists for it to work!

Regarding the videos to be blank, I don't know the reason for this, it might be that they are still loading since loading goes slow sometimes.

Btw, I've updated the product and the smiley bug has been fixed!

Well i think you need good instructions for installing.

Before i install it again, i wanna make sure i am doing things right.

Import the XML product Done
Upload the attached icon images (or use your own)
Default is:
/images/editor/google.gif
/images/editor/youtube.gif Done
Open htaccess.txt, configure it (replace yourdomain with your domain), save it as .htaccess and upload it to the root of your forum Not Done
Run the included installer Have Done it before, and then uninstalled the product, should i run this again?
The installer will also upgrade previous instalations
Bug: when you run the installer more then once, multiple of the same indexes are created. I haven't found a way yet to prevent this. I have posted some messages on MySQL forums to find an answere and will then upgrade the installer. For now it is adviced to run the installer just once and for upgrades it is adviced to check the PREFIXseovideos table after upgrading to see if there are any duplicate indexes configured to remove them if needed.
To install the Videobar anywhere on the forum use the folowing code:

First thing I will change is the parsing of videos, the videos will now be played with their original player to give credit to the videohosts as you may know they are losing money so this is the least you could do to pay them and I am aspecting it is ilegal to parse the videos via a custom player.

Im not sure, but i assume the .htaccess should create html pages, so thats probably also why that link goes to an error page, and also doesnt display the videos because of that.

I put the new htaccess file, but same result. The videos are okay within the forum. But the <!-- SEO Videos Index Bar --> only shows the borders of the video player and a black screen in the middle. Also there are no video pages within the directory.

2)reply to a quote/quote something.

But if you go to the bottom of the page and click "go advanced," they don't show up.

Regarding the 301 redirect to make your www. less domain redirect to www.domain.com you should just add /forum/ or any other url you want the www. less domain redirect to.

I uninstalled and re-installed and the database was set up correctly this time.

Now I notice that the Youtube and the Google ".gif" images do not work because this installer will not make any allowances for the ACTUAL path that your forum is installed into.
Bad :(

Nice first try Adult CEO, but this add-on has some more coding to be done.

Fix that (seemingly minor) issue, let's write some more clearer instructions, and then we can find out why the firt time the installer is run it fails but suceeds on the second try.

I just can't get the mod rewrite to work. The forum is located in the /test/ directory. And whatever I try the video index page won't show up on videos.html.

And the mod doesn't load the videos on the main page and the video index page. It just shows a black frame for google video and an empty space for youtube videos.

I just spoke to Crist from Any Media, the number 1 media mod for vBulletin 3.5.x and we agreed that I will continue with Any Media and make it availabe for vBulletin 3.6.x.

The new version of Any Media will be called Any Media 3.6.x and will be official linked to from Any Media 3.5.x.

I don't know yet if it will remain the same and if all features of the old version will remain and what new features will be added but I will try to make it as perfect, stable, optimum and fast as possible.

The mod will be free but will require an icon/link on the video display wich can be removed by paying a small fee.

The mod has cURL support from the beginning! You can enable it from the adminpanel.

cURL will also ensure that the user doesn't have to wait for minutes when a videohost is down since you can specify the connection timeout and it will also ensure that the videohosts don't ban you as fast as they may when they detect your server being accessing the videos as cURL will simulate a real user!

Yes, I pointed this out to da420. I am having the same problem. I posted 10 videos (youtube) in the first post of the thread, and the first two had the correct names, while the other 8 videos were all using the same title as the first video.

Hi!

If you disable or remove the product and uninstall the SEO Videos fields from the Database it will be fully uninstalled. There are no other changes.

For me the inline editor works fine btw, so the bug might be due to a difrent mod.

Loads of people are having this problem, can someone please give an answer to sort it out. I also can get video in threads, but the video.html just turns up nothing. To the best of my knowledge I've got the htaccess set up correctly.

Another thing I found with this installed. When I try and access my site, some of my members don't put the www. in front of the url. It has always worked before. Now when I type http://mysite.com instead of http://www.mysite.com it will give a page not found error. When I take the .htaccess edits out of the file it works just fine.

So basically with this installed;

http://mysite.com/forum - does not work
http://www.mysite.com/forum - does work

Without this installed (htaccess edits taken out);

http://mysite.com - does work
http://www.mysite.com -does work

Any suggestions on a way for this to get to work?

The icons which call us the Youtube and Google BB Code, only work if you've used 'Reply' button, if you use quote or anything else, the buttons don't show up.

Adult SEO, this plugin is not ready for a big board...any plugin that parse the text in every post, every time that a user or a guest is viewing a thread is a killer CPU hack...

I think that the solution to this is to parse the text only one time when the thread is created or something like that or just forget to gain popularity with this plugin ;)

I've made some test with my board with more that 2500 users online, I have 4 webservers and 2 DB servers and when I enabled this plugin the load went from 1.5 to 10.5 in minutes... I disabled it and everything goes to normal again.

Mod Rewrite is an technique to enable URL rewriting on Apache. It will enable you to show for example message-1.html to the users in the browser while actualy message.php?message=1 is loaded.

videos.html will actualy load index.php?videos=1 (1 = pagenumber).

So you could also load the video index via http://www.domain.com/?videos=1

thats my htaccess, could you help me add the mod_rewrite necessary for the video page to work to what i have already?

i was able to view the page by going directly to it (index.php?videos=1) but the videos on that page were coming up black and not loading, as well as the mod_rewrite did not work so I could not click anything.

also, I use VBA and the side bar was really messing that page up. How would I go about disabling the side bar for that video page if it isn't an actual page and is generated through mod_rewrite?
