For example, if I put in:
Paul M is My hero Paul M is My hero Paul M is My Hero Paul M is My hero Paul M is My hero
The second to last statement is wrapped in "color="Red"", and on Smooth Blue, it's actually green.
It's be nice to say "Look at the red text in the code above" and know that it actually will be red for the person you're helping, regardless of the skin they're using.

I believe the colour restrictions are planned to be dropped.

Just out of curiosity, why aren't color codes shown in Smooth Blue?

They aren't shown in any style, it's not just Smooth Blue - each style has only one highlight colour. I'm not really sure why as the restriction was added years ago.

But if you view this page in vB3 Grey, that text is shown in red.

Yes, Red is the highlight colour in that style.
If you choose different colour codes this is what happens (view the source using quote).
This should be blue.
This should be green.
This should be red.
This should be Purple.

Oh okay, I assumed that green was the universal highlight color.

Because On Dark Blue a lot of users used color=yellow to hightlight things they wanted to highlight, which was absolutelly unreadable on any other style....
That's the problem with different styles on a board
