It wouldn't surprise me if Amykhar's hack also worked with 3.6.x. My appologies

Hi, I reinstalled with the new version. Still getting some issues though; no SQL error though.
This appears at the top of the WOL page:Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/dninja/public_html/includes/functions_online.php(1575) : eval()'d code on line 20

Also avatar images are broken, it is trying to pull images from the database but they are in the file system. E.g. http://www.dragonninja.co.uk/image.php?u=1&dateline=

It should since it's not using any queries or parsing anything really. It's just displaying the information that is available from already queried functions.

You mentioned that your avatars are in your filesystem and not in the DB... is there an option in VB where I can change this?
Normally all avatars are in the DB, hence that's where the function for the avatar is pulling them from. If I can switch mine over to a filesystem I'd be able to troubleshoot it.
EDIT: ok changed my avatars to the filesystem. Will report back once it's fixed.

Hi Brian! I guess I will give Amy's a whirl, if it works there's no need to trouble you.
And for reference the option is in your Avatar settings in the vB ACP somewhere. It will import/export them on command. Can't remember exactly where though!

Seems to work 100% now. But my WOL loads very very slowly... The actual page itself, not the avatar images. What does this do as far as queries are concerned?
SkyCatcher
11-06-2006, 04:52 PM
It only adds one query to get all the information for the avatars. There's no way around that. Maybe someone in your house is using your wlan ;) lol.
Theoretically it shouldn't slow down unless you have hundreds of users online since it gets the avatar's paths from the DB for every user.

Ok, check the top post again, I've attached a text file explaining the file edit needed to make the thumbs show in the vbAdvanced block. Everyone elses avatar will show but your own. I have to go to work so, meh, it's a start. It requires you edit the modules/onlineusers.php file.

Sorry I've been without an internet connection for the past 4 weeks.
You have the option of showing thumbnails in the who's online, on the forumhome, or both. Take a look at the screenshot of the admincp and it should explain itself. ( https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=55582&d=1162865136 )
Is there a way to have the username appear above or below the avatar? I can get it to work in who's online with just a <br/> but if I do that on forumhome it makes the avatars line up horizontally.

I don't think there's a way to do it without looping a table column through the forumhome. I'll play with it tonight and see if I can come up with a solution, but I'm doubtfull. Check back in about 12 hrs ^^

Sorry I tried but I can't get it to work.
It would require file changes, but even that I can't figure out.
Basically the php file parses the table then goes to the template and then finishes the table. In order to change that you'd need to modify the php file and change the output :/
I'm not skilled enough to figure it out apparently :(
No problem, thanks for trying though!

Find in onlineusers.php
----------------------
if ($onlinemod['modid'])
{
if ($activeusers)
{
$com = ', ';
and change the ,
if ($onlinemod['modid'])
{
if ($activeusers)
{
$com = '<br /> ';
So a few lines down you'd have:
eval('$activeusers .= "$com ' . fetch_template('forumhome_loggedinuser') . '";');
And that will display them on a seperate line each, you can also add an $nbsp; for a whitespace.

I can't seem to fix it. Somehow it goes through and gets the avatar paths for everyone except for the user that is currently loggen in (you). So whoever is viewing that page will see everyone else's avatar but their own.
No fix for this yet. I've tinkered with it about 6 times now and still can't come up with a simple way to get it to work.
The whole VBA thing was just an addon due to demand, I never really planned on messing with VBA so it may just remain that way forever :(
