making promotions instant?

right now when you join my board you have limited access, and can ONLY see the intro lounge, until you make a post in there.

Heres the "glitch??"

when a user makes there intro post, i have it setup right now, so that every 15 mins the promotion scripts to promote the user to our regular usergroup if they have 1 or more posts.

this is vb 3.6.2

I also had a 3.5.4 board for a while, and this board was setup exactly the same.... except when a user made their intro post they were promoted instantly....

how did i get it to work like that... i didnt have to mod anything for it to work.

The promotions system is a cron job, and always has been. I don't see how you could have done it instantly without a modification.

The closest you could probably get would be to set your promotions cron to run every minute. That's a bit OTT though.

well ya i know its a cron job... thatrs what im saying i dont know why it was instant on the other board.... it was setup the same and i didnt have any hacks that specificially did that sort of thing... the only other thing is i used vb ajax cron.... but im not sure that had anything to do with it.

thats weird then... no one has any idea why it worked before and not now?
