Why do i get a broken page when I try to modify a template that has javascript on it and when I hit the save button it takes me to a broken page and it never save the templates?

Try different browser (Opera (http://www.opera.com) or Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com)). Maybe you have some addon to your browser that causes that problem.

I still get the same problem with firebox. I get this error
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /league/forums/admincp/template.php could not be found on this server.
and if the templates doesn't have javascript on it it will go thru.

That error is most likely caused by mod_security installed on your web server. Try to contact your host about this issue.

what do I tell my web server? to disable the mod_security?

I have no idea since I'm not server admin, but I have seen that error message before on one of my client's websites and it was caused by mod_secuity. Maybe tweaking settings for mod will help, maybe admin will have to completely disable that apache mod - its up to him.
