View Full Version : Looking to add Google user map. Need help!

Hey guys. First post on the board here. Hope you guys can help. I'm looking to have a user map feature like the one at the link below:

I'm looking for it to be as close to this as possible, as I don't really need it to do more than this one does. Got any ideas? Thanks for the help.

what version of vB are you using? this one vBGooglemap for 3.6.1 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=123148&highlight=vBGooglemap) i have installed, quite easily too, on my vB 3.6.2 . Easy install and works great.

i'm running 3.6.2. would it be easy to change the mod you mentioned to make it look like the one at the site i was talking about?

it's the same think i think... well it's a googlemap, and integrates into your vb, peeps have to put their own 'pins' on the map though. By 'looks' I'm assuming for it to 'match' your forum.. and yes it does it 'sits' within a forum page like the memberlist or a members profile does... (best way this layman can explain it... :wink: )

the map that is on the site i mentioned is how i want it to look on my site exactly. their map also puts the user 'pins' on there automatically, meaning users don't have to do it. is there a way to do this?

it might be one of the other googlemap hacks
but i would think automatically putting a pin on the map might be a bit of a privacy issue for most people, therefore it should be an optional thing that the member has to do themselves.

Have you tried contacting the admin of the board that has the one you like on it? It could be a custom product/plugin that they wrote themselves or paid someone for......

I agree with you Vern, that version of the user map is slick!

It looks like they used this program here:

I'm not exactly sure if there is a drop in page that automatically sets up this feature for you, it seems as if there is some coding/hacking they did at digitalpoint to get this going. I would absolutely love to find out how to get this going on my own forums!

All the pins on that map say "view google earth"
