Well, I have the undefined problem, plus I am not able to change an URL or a song name once it is in a playlist...
What am I doing wrong ?
(I verified the chmod for mp3playlist.php and made sure that admin can add and play mp3)

Actually I did. I did not bother saving any tables as I had issues right away. I dropped the tables with phpmyadmin, reinstall the whole thing (xml), took care about the "right away" settings saving, checked the chmod, checked the rights, made sure it did not request for approval, cleared my cache, even stopped the cache (thanks to my devbar) same results. As far as I know, except for throwing salt above my shoulders or praying all night long I tried everything.

Try logging out of your site and clearing cookies, this sometimes causes errors with this mod.Had no effect. Still won't approve tracks. And when I say I cleared cookies, I definitely did... Even reformatted computer and reinstalled XP... (Coincidental but still.):confused:

Nonetheless I got it working by disabling admin approval. I can just switch it back on when I am not adding mp3s into the playlists.

However a new issue has raised its ugly head... A while after a track has stopped playing, a window pops up saying that a script running in the Adobe Flash 9 movie is making Adobe Flash 9 run slow, and may cause the computer to become unstable, asking me if I want to terminate the script. Choosing yes closes the mp3 player, choosing no leaves it be but the computer runs very slow. :(

When I upload a URL which otherwise would prompt you to download the file, it shows up but will not play (this is the path from my FTP).

When I put in the HTTP path it doesn't even show up.

The 'undefined' statement means the player file is not reading the main mp3playlist.php file in the root of your forum. Check the CHMOD on this file is set to 644.

The 'power' button serves no purpose on this version, it is just for cosmetic purposes only.

See how you get on...
folder is already chmod 644. any other ideas?

Okay let me better rephrase the question as the mod isnt working correctly for me. Heres what Ive tried.

Installed the mod no problems. When I add a mp3 file as streaming, and admin has to approve the mp3 file first. Im not able to approve it so that its added to the list. When I click approve and save it still shows "0" and wont change that setting. Thus wont add to the playlist.

So then I try again with another file. But if I add the mp3 files with streaming as false then it adds to the player with approval set to no. It then shows in the player but wont actually play ( and yes its linking to the correct mp3 file ).

It should be within any style, unless you're using a custom style and it is being called from another template. If you view your forum from the page source, you should see where it is making javascript calls from, they are normally grouped together under the main CSS.

We are having problems with the approval system, for some reason its working fine on some boards but not others. I've noticed that by setting the Admin Approval to Yes - I can add mp3's with no problem - I am hoping to have a fix for this shortly.

This relates to an error if you do not follow the instructions carefully.

Re-import the product.xml again, then press Refresh on your browser. Go to Mp3 Player Management -> Settings and make sure you click Save. If you fail to click Save the PM system will not work and that error will appear.

When I add an mp3 I can see it to approve in Playlist 1 but when I go to approve it does not save the status as approved and it does not show up in the playlist.

This is an actual bug... Set the Mp3 Player Settings not to approve, then Save. That should fix the problem temporary until the bug is fixed. The way other users have got around this is by using the usergroup permission settings.

New to this stuff but I am trying and am learning, I thought I followed the instructions to the letter, but it's not working, I see the vBmp3PLayer in my nav bar, the install I think went OK, had no error messages, that I saw, but when I click on the mp3 on the menu bar, I get this error message

what did I do wrong, what did I miss please advise when you get a chance, I tried to go though this entire thread looking for the answer but could not find what I needed.

Disregard my above post, I found the problem, I did not upload the contents of the upload folder correctly, I went through all the steps and found my error, I uploaded correctly and WOW, it loaded the player.

I am going to test the rest of it out soon, hope, I have no more issues,

OK I click on the navbar and it opens up the mp3 player, but the window that opens up is too small and it cuts off, cannot resize either, so have to scroll across and down, and when I click on the add mp3's it opens up same window another tab, but that is not sized correctly. either

using vbulletin 3.6.5, firefox-latest version

any ideas

Can' approve the mp3's either, I have manually loaded them to my server, I went to control panel and added to play list1, and went to approve, but when I go back to look they are back to NO, as in no approval

I think we have this one resolved as well, we have linked a few songs and we are able to approve,not sure what happened or why it's now working.

For some strange reason new mp3s that I add are not showing on the player itself. They show up on the admin panel when you view the playlists but thats about it. Any ideas?

Hi,

Just did an install... all seems to be working on my 3.6.7 bulletin board...

However, only have one song uploaded at moment. It plays... Cool.

At the end of the song I get a dialogue box error that says the following:-

"A script in the movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"

If I say no... the computer acts as if it has hung... If I say yes... then the Explorer instance showing my Forums either shuts down - or it closes down the MP3 Player...

Any thoughts?

I don't actually support this mod anymore on here...however, the reason that is happening is because you only have entered 1 track in a playlist. You must have more than one, so the playlist will work correctly.

Well then I would say take a look at the hacks you have installed since then and make sure none of them conflicted with the mp3 player. Nothing is wrong with the mp3 player. There is no way it would just break itself. If you reverted the template or whatever it is something you did. Therefore I don't see how Syrus.xl could solve your problem. Nevertheless he is not offering support for this anymore here.

Re-import the product XML file, Refresh the AdminCP then goto Mp3 Player Management and click not to approve mp3's. Then click 'Save'.

If you do this in the correct order, it will allow you to approve mp3's until a fix is issued.

The mp3playlist.php file is only accessed by the player itself for reading data from the database and selection of playlist. Due to it serving as a multi-purpose file, it cannot by a static HTML file. Since this would require the player to be re-compiled and code changed.

Someone else mentioned this... The actual commercial version will support multiple playlists, with the renaming ability. However, some people have modified the templates so the playlists have different names. I see your a coder/designer, so I guess you could edit the templates yourself? I don't actually support this modification here anymore, since all support was moved to the main website www.digitalport.co.uk.

I used to have your first version where a member was allowed to upload an MP3 from his PC..I think. Now in this version this choice is gone. This makes it really tough for members to upload anything because if they use an upload site, the script of this site gives the file some extra information and also demands a wait to download limit. So may I ask how people who use this mod manage this? I'd also like the choice to upload from their own PC implemented. Thanks

Player works fine but just have 2 problems:

When the player is launched the Add Your MP3's link at the bottom blends in with my background..so no one can see it unless you hover over it..how can i change the colour to red or white etc to make it visible:

May I give a couple tips? If you use Minorcrisis, like I do, become a donator...AND make sure you're making your files private...you don't want people, especially non-donators, stealing your bandwidth! I made that mistake, after uploading over 300 mp3's...now I'm doing it all over.:eek::rolleyes::erm:

These features will be only available in the commercial version. Due to this version being a free modification, it does have a few limitations.

Playlist renaming
Album thumbnails
Sorting Options
Shuffle on/off
Replay track or entire playlist
Fully skinnable player (includes templates to create your own in PSD format)
Player will also support add-ons
All new improved templates
Visualizations - packed with 3 free ones (more will be released.)

Also a number of new players will be available, which come with product XML's to install.

A feature that is being looked into is mp3 file upload, but due to some server configurations this may not be possible with all hosts. A modified .htaccess file will be supplied, this will normally allow people to get around the PHP restrictions on file uploading, hence a new time-out and file upload limit will be increased.

Check your mp3 tracks are not of varying bitrates, or it will cause the player to play erratically.

This feature was looked at during the design, but left out for a number of reasons. The main reason was the 2Mb PHP limit, which can be changed by using an override. Basically, depending on the server configuration, it can be done in two different ways.

1. Adding a few lines of code to the main .htaccess file to allow a longer PHP time-out and also change the PHP limit to about 5-10Mb.
2. Adding a php.ini file - again to override the servers default settings.

In both cases it would have made the modification harder to install, because people would need to find out if they could use any of these methods, some hosts don't allow either option.

The pro version will have this feature, and a test script, to find out if your server can handle either option. The test script would be a free tool to allow a client to test their server prior to purchasing the commercial script.

Hard to say my friend - its being worked on, between other custom work at the moment. I would imagine around end of July or beginning of August. The guy thats sorting the coding out is also very busy, so we have to fit it around our busy time schedules.

Ok, I got a problem here:

A few of my users sent me a PM due to problems with this player. Now it works fine for me, and the majority, however the error message says flash and javascript needed..... ALl of these users claim they have javascript and flash installed and running.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be or how to fix it?

The URL's should be addresses to your own mp3's, on either an internal or external server. These should be absolute urls, and not relative to the player itself.

ok, I have a slight problem, I have added all of these mp3's through the admincp, they work great except that can't edit them in any way, I can delete though. as you can see in the first pic I left part of the url in the song title and everytime I edit and hit the "update mp3" button it goes back to the main page and still displays wrong, same with the mp3 id#. Ive tried to change the "approve" etc and nothing has worked. also, what does the mp3 stream "true or false" do?

Yes this mod will work under PHP 5.0

The files mp3playlist.php and mp3playerindex.php cannot be accessed directly. The mp3playlist.php is setup to show a white page when it is accessed from a direct url, the only data passes through this file is from the flash file (security purposes only).

The mp3playerindex.php requires additional parameters to display an output, this is why you only see a white page, it serves many purposes.

You can rename the link in the navbar, it is not phrased in vbulletin - its just a text link in the navbar edit coding.

However, a very serious problem...

Editing of MP3's in the AdminCP doesn't work at all, doesn't matter if the "Approve" is set to on or off (referring to "Known Issue" of it being "off"). This means that I cannot "approve" of any MP3's that are submitted by members, I have to leave it set to "Don't Approve" (else, I cannot "edit" and approve it). I can't change the name, I can't fix urls, I can't modify the sound buffer, etc... Nothing (and like I said, it doesn't matter what the approval setting is on, it just doesn't work).

I'll have to write the code for this. I thought I had wrote this, but obviously I haven't!:confused: It is quite simple to do, however all the modifcations being released by us lately, are using new js calls for embedding to prevent a problem with DHTML menus dropping behind flash objects on a page.

Probably, be a few days before I can write this out and the install procedure.

You seem to be using a custom style, therefore the coding for the calendar maybe slighty different. You would need to change the code to suit your own style.

All mods on vbulletin.org are designed for use with the default style, so the instructions are easy to follow.

We've fixed all known issues with this modification - the new version of this modification is version 4.0. It will be changed on here within the next few days. We are also releasing a brand new player the new 'XEON Z4' - this is to compliment lighter skins/styles, this will be released around the same time. For some reason it doesn't play. I already set usergroup to allow permission. Also, I noticed when I looked at my setting in MP3 setting management >> Add MP3 playlist 1, click on edit

Approve MP3 >> i checked on approve but alway default to NO.

Thanks for the info. Another great feature would be for users to be able to select specific songs from the playlist(s) to skip or play.

EDIT: I take that back. That is probably a feature I could not live without. I added about 80 classic rock songs to my player and already had to delete 20 of them because people told me some of the songs were the most overplayed songs of all time. They were, of course, 100% correct. Even so, some people may have been living in a cave all these years and still like to hear these songs. That it why it would be really nice for the end user to have more control over what they hear, or do not hear. Perhaps something akin to a radio button next to the songs in the playlist with upper level options to 'Skip Selected' or 'Play Selected' or 'Play All'.

Been using your Xeon since last Xmas and it's working great.
I updated also to the latest Xeon a couple weeks ago and that is fine too.

I just went ahead and added the custom_Xeon template and it looks very nice however i couldn't maximize the screen so it looked awkward with having to move the slide bar to see the links i have on the right side so within the navbar template, i changed

resizable=Yes,fullscreen=Yes

and that's working fine.

is there anything i could edit in the navbar or custom xeon template so that the player isn't always on top?

Hi richTV,

That issue has been addressed on most of our modifications, its a well known issue when using Flash and DHTML dropdown near one another. It requires a alteration to the embed code and a new js file added, to fix the issue across all browsers (Safari does still suffer slightly when rendering the code, and tends to 'flicker' very slightly).

I'll redo the coding with the added parameter, and new js file, so it functions correctly. :)

This is because the default player uses a shuffle feature to randomize all tracks on each load. There is another player available in Optional Extras in the Download Area in the main post called 'No Shuffle Player Only Optional Extra.zip' - download this and overwrite the default player with this one.

OK, overwrote the other player with this one and now get a blank screen with no player visible. Any suggestions?

WOW, very frustrating... I replaced the non-shuffling player with the original and still get a blank screen now. It was working fine just shuffling the contents. How do I get it back?

It's OK, I removed all, installed again, all is good now...


But how do I, or what do I need to put in the playlist, so my mp3's that are on my server can been seen and played, what formatting do I need

Yes, the player requires the full url to any mp3 file. Also note, that the naming of the mp3 files is also quite strict - more details on this can be found here (http://www.digitalport.co.uk/digital/showthread.php?t=74499&garpg=2#content_start).

The play button will flash in 'Play' mode, that is part of the design.

If media is not playing it could be a number of reasons. Due to the way vBadvanced CMPS can be installed will vary on the where the player looks for the playlist, therefore it maybe necessary to change all relative urls used in the modification to absolute.

I wonder, is there anyway we can make the player wider so we can have longer track titles to include artist - album - song title in the tracks name? Or is there some way of making the track title scroll, if I add something like Bloodbound - Book Of The Dead - The Tempter, all we can see is Bloodbound - Book Of The.

Isn't the text scrolling on the player? It shouldn't cut-off text fields, unless I need to modify the actuall sql field that holds this data.

1) Is there a way to make it so the users can upload their songs to the server directly the same way attachments are added to posts? It would seem that's more convenient for the users than linking to their files
2) As you can see in the pic, after I push "add mp3" on the player, it opens another tab within the popup window. The problem is the popup is obviously small. Is it possible to make it so when you push "add mp3" it doesn't open this within a tabbed popup?
3) As you can see with the popup, its showing in the "add mp3" interface its giving the ability to add 3 mp3's at once and the screen looks kinda cluttered. In the screenshot shown of the app, it only shows 1 and looks nice. Did I do something wrong?

It would seem that's more convenient for the users than linking to their files We are releasing a commercial version that does allow uploading of mp3's - however, this feature does require a server test script to be run beforehand, to test the uploading of data larger than PHP limitations. Some webhosts do not allow you to adjust this value or override it. We have this side currently working on VPS and dedicated servers. We are currently running a survey on our website regarding new features and a brand new mp3 player engine, far more advanced than this free version. In development the new version can accept mp3 uploads and then read the mp3 id tag, which you can edit if you wish or just click save, it's virtually all automatic and includes an upload progession bar.

This can be adjusted by altering the javascript code that opens the window. We are working on an update that will fix this issue.

The original version was coded with just one input field, this was extended to 3 during one of the upgrades, however the template was not updated for the additional field. This is only a minor adjustment which will be fixed in the next release.

Uploading on this version is not possible, we will be releasing a version with this feature available, but this will be commercial only.

Playlist renaming is only available on custom players at the moment. This maybe added in a future version.

That looks like a problem with a javascript call is missing to flashobject.js file or this file is not uploaded. Have the person that installed this modification to check that all javascript calls are correctly coded in the right templates.

With respect to a manual, one was never produced as such - mainly because it is just a simple modification once installed.

A few tips to get you started:
1. Go to Usergroups -> Edit Usergroup you wish the player permissions to be set for (normally Admin first, so you can check it all works).
2. Add a mp3 track by clicking on Add to Playlist 1, etc in the AdminCP. Make sure you enter urls of mp3 tracks in full including the http:// part of the address.
3. Enter a title, set Buffer to 5 (this tells the player to load 5 secs of the mp3 before playing, this is to stop problems with slow servers). Approve the mp3, so it will show within the player.

Due to the way Flash works, you may experience problems if you add an mp3 which is using, non-standard bitrates, this will cause the track to be played at a different speed. I would suggest using a bitrate of 128k and above.

If you still have problems after this let me know, and contact me via PM - I will set it up for you.

Mp3 'bitrates' is a value saved, basically the higher the bitrate the better the sound quality. Most mp3's are saved at 128k, this would generally give you an mp3 of around 3-4Mb, while 192k will give you roughy 5Mb or more depending on length of the track.

Bitrates are set when the initial track is 'ripped' from a CD or other source.

Did you save the settings straight after installation? If you didn't re-import the product XML then refresh the AdminCP page, go straight to Mp3 Player Settings and Click Save.

If you still unable to Edit a track after this, Delete it and check you have entered the url was correct, including the http:// part of the url.

Yeah, I saved the settings directly after installation, per the included instructions. The urls(including the http://) are all correct, and the tracks play. But if, for instance, the buffer was set too short, or they placed [url] tags on it out of habit, I am forced to delete the track, and have them redo it. As opposed to just fixing it for them.

Oh right, to be honest I didn't realize people would place BBcode url tags on a mp3 url address, easy mistake I guess. I will look into this matter being fixed, the only reason it is set like it is at present is because of some Apache server configurations with the httpd service. We will look at a workaround on this issue.

This is a common issue. It normally refers to the javascript call not being present. If you look at the main installation, check that you have edited the headinclude template - it should have this js call added.

If it's missing this will cause that error you can see.

I figured out what the problem is. When you search for vbulletin_global.js?v=$vboptions[simpleversion] it brings up the support style for headinclude, but most users are using the default style so it doesn't get added to the default style.

Preferably, I would like non-registrants to be able to view and use the player at Biblocality Forums (http://biblocality.com/forums/). On the Navbar should be a link, "Christian Music (http://biblocality.com/forums/mp3playerindex.php?do=viewmp3playerpopup)" for the light ZEON Z4, but it doesn't show up for non-registrants even though I changed the settings in usergroups.

3.6.9 - this is one version that it wasn't checked on (I see there are issues already with this version). It was tested upto 3.6.8 and then 3.7.

You can just remove the IF conditional that surrounds the actual link, this will allow the link to show guests, but not able to add tracks, unless you change the setting in the AdminCP.

As you can see from my forums: www.GRevForums.net the Player is at the bottom of the page in a collapsable table. Would this affect the coding I use? - EDIT: Moved it to the navbar instead.


I have viewed all the posts in these boards relating to the javascript error and also looked on your own forums and have tried all the fixes there aswell. The flashobject file is in the clientscript folder, I have tried both relative and absolute urls for the headinclude code. I cant think of anything else I can do to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
