View Full Version : Shopping cart integration...

I'm having a hell of a time finding a shopping cart integration...
I'd either like to have a native VB cart that works well or a way to dump username/password/profile data to a shopping cart.
Has anyone come across something like this?
I've only been able to find geekmart - which isn't available - or an x-cart plugin for v3.0.x of VB.

<a href="http://www.amember.com" target="_blank">www.amember.com</a> ^^
I have been looking for one too...
After seeing the amember link I am not sure that is what I am looking for. I believe the x-cart is my best choice.
Can someone take a look at my site and tell me what they think the best cart would be? x or amember? http://kgparts.com/

amember is a charge-per-membership app... it has nothing to do with selling products.
I'm looking for a cart - so far it looks like Geekmart is the best, yet unfinished, vb store - or a 3rd party cart w/integration. I looked at xcart but the last integration is for an older version of xcard and an older version of vb.
Is there a reason no one seems interested in releasing a solution for vb? I mean... is there something I'm missing?

I am browsing for integration into a shopping cart as well, and I thought I would point out that it looks like the script Allen mentioned integrates membership with tons of programs. So you could use one of the shopping scripts listed and vbulletin, and they would share users.

i needed somthing for a shopping cart. im not a coder but i feel i can get around in vb well and install different hacks. i bought xcart and a skin. paid 300 bucks. it was a very easy to install but a nightmare to customize. im hoping a coder will take interest in somthing like geekmart again. id pay for it. i think my next idea is to play w/ photopost classifieds and see if i can get that to work as a store. i dont even need a payment gateway. just somthing that highlights a product, some shipping info and sends them to paypal. somthing like vbadvanced.

Yeah, I can't really code so well, but I am very familiar with the template workings of vb. Other programs seem so complicated in comparison.
Geekmart was and hopefully will be good. Too bad The Geek has not been working on it.

I am looking for something as well. I want a way to connect my clients (bands) with buyers under one roof, a big ol band marketplace essentially. I have VB Classifieds going and to an extent that can work like this but I would like something more cart oriented where you can add items and checkout etc. sending PM invoices/receipts between users etc. - I think there would be a huge market for this among VB users.

That really isn't a shopping cart though. In fact, that still doesn't enable you to realistically add products for people to buy.

I am a beta tester, but development has ceased on it, unfortunately. I like that you are trying to help us find something to fill our need. But I just don't think one exists right now.

Ok, I am sooo scared to post this for fear I will get in trouble. I have heard that modifying vBulletin is in violation of its license. I am a programmer and am taking a "directed study" course this semester. I have proposed make a mod to an open source program called www.zen-cart.com. This is a fully-functional shopping cart system. It's great! The only problem is that my users of photopost and vBulletin have to re-register in the store. I find this a slight nusance and would like to change this. So, that is my proposal. Let me know if I am breaking rules as I am going to host my beta/trial version of the software on a site other than the working one I have now. I don't want to mess up my ecommerce site (http://www.digitaldivasdesigns.com) that has finally started picking up. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Ya, I was looking at that Zen Cart too. It looks amazing and simple to use with good support. Downside, no VB integration.

You read over the license for vB. Or open a support ticket if you would like help understanding it. You won't get in trouble.

Well, that is what I am going to try and write. We'll see. I use Zen-cart as my shopping cart and love it. Here's my store (http://www.digitaldivasdesigns.com). I have a gallery and forum and they use the same profile information but the store requires re-registration. I hate that! So, we'll see how it comes out.
BTW, if you want to try how it works, just get one of the freebies. Just don't opt for a newsletter! :)

I uses oscommy. I have looked for a way to merge users. Some just can't seem to figure out you have to register twice on my site etc. www.alcohol-injection.com is my store. Still worken on mergin the two softwars to make them look simlar. I know zen cart is based off osccommy so maybe i can make it work :)

And when do you plan to get the ZenCart integrated with vB?

The problem is I developed the current version for my own use, so I didn't took care for adding shipping and taxes. I'm planing to add them for a future release.

It's a 100% vbCart, but for selling downloadable products (no shipping calculations, no taxes calculations). Some of its fatures:
- Unlimited categories
- Unlimited subcategories
- Special offers
- Recommentation list below each product
- Also bought list below each product
- PayPal and 2CO payment gateways
- Info boxes with: Best seller, Upcoming products, Just released products (updated per category).

Would it work like this?
I really am in dire need of a shopping cart system that would it work when someone pays to have lessons with one of several instructors, it pm's the admin (me), the instructor and the person that pays for the lessons they will get a private message automatically sent?
I will have like 5 instructors at first, but want to be able to add or remove them. I also want all of the payments to work through paypal.

Don't underestimate it's value in features because it's a mod for vB. Believe me it has many great features. eg You can setup a special usergroup which will have access to a specific forum (let's say instructor's forum). In every product that you add (lesson in your case) you can setup in which usergroup the buyer will be assigned if he buys that product.
Auto emails are sending to buyer after a successful payment with instruction on how to download his product.

I don't want to change usergroups though. Because the person won't be paying for some constant lessons, they'll be paying for one time 30 minute or 60 minute sessions. I just want members to be able to buy lessons from people in the instructors usergroup. And for each party to be contacted after payment has been sent to me (the admin) I will then pay the instructor later.
When will this be done though? Because this is something that I need to implement... like 3 days ago. I'm holding off on a major announcement for this because I can't find the right shopping cart system.
Also, if this does not work the way I want it to can I get a refund?

I would be interested in purchasing, but it would have to support Inventory, and Shipping costs.

Hey all,
Followed this thread and a couple similar ones here, and thought you all might be interested in some hopeful rumor mongering.
The best solution that's come up repeatedly is The vB Geek's Geekmart right? The only problem is that he's had to halt development on it for quite a while simply because he's got so many other things to work on. I've been following the threads over on his site, and he's dropped some hints recently that he's got someone that may be coming on board with him to pickup GeekMart and get it back on track! Whoo Hoo!
Based on those hints, and some recent positive posting by another member over there that bought a copy sans support, we gave it a shot ourselves.
Oh man... MUCH better than we'd hoped for. If you're ok with Paypal as the only payment processer (others may be added later, it's setup for them just needs the interface written) it's quite good even in it's current beta state. I've played around with it quite a bit the last couple days and it's Sooooo much better for our purposes than anything else we've looked at. We actually have a copy of VPASP, but trying to integrate it into vB is just a total PITA. GeekMart is totally integrated from the start, there's a few quirks to it, but it seems totally workable and quite stable so far. Really nice membership system that handles auto-promotion to specified usergroups, very cool.
Anyway, it's still completely unsupported, and nothing official has been said. Maybe nothing will come of it, but... Maybe it will;) .
Anyway, thought it might be interesting for some of the posters here. Keep your ears out, Geek will probably let us know something officially one way or the other relatively soon.

... or at least at the demo page:
http://www.madebymary.com/developing/vbdigishop.php (http://www.madebymary.com/developing/vbdigishop.php)
You can test it as:
User: demouser
Password: demopass
keeping in mind that only 2CO can be used for demo orders !!
The official release will be on Tuesday, March 6th, 2007.
It's 100% a vBulletin's mod, but for those of you, who love to see threads like shopping lists, or topics as product page, then sorry this is not for you. This is for those who love a real cart with the power of vBulletin.
Cheers

i have also been searching for a 'real' cart to integrate with my board. does anyone have any experience with amember? it really seems like the best solution to integrate vbulletin with a real shopping cart script...
all the really good pro scripts are self contained so i am wondering how seamlessly will it integrate, will it be totally hidden form the users? if so then its really the best solution i guess as i can use oscommerce or x-cart

You might try GeekMart at www.thevbgeek.com (http://www.thevbgeek.com), we've been using a beta of it and it's working fine for us. Geek's got some help and Geekmart is back in full development, there's a thread over on his site to submit change requests for the next version after gold. It was pretty easy to install and setup as I recall, and it *is* seemless to the user... Obviously YMMV widely, but it's worth a look.

I'm using digishop, zen-cart, and several other shopping cart programs.
What would really be great is a zen-cart and vbulletin bridge! I would gladly pay for this if anyone has something out there.

I too appreciate your assistance Allan. I know I haven't posted much on the site. I've been more of a browser lately then anything. Been focusing on kids, work, and my new home business. I've been looking all over for a cart that would allow my vb site members to say access an area where my products would be posted with prices. They could add these to their cart. I'd also like to be able to add a tax percentage so they could get somewhat of an accurate quote before shipping. But I haven't been lucky enough yet to come across such a thing.
