Due to increased traffic to vBulletin.com, vBulletin.org and the other sites hosted on this server, it has become necessary to move to a new and more powerful system.

We plan to perform this move tomorrow (Sunday October 15th) and while this will involve some down-time for the sites, we will attempt to keep this to a minimum as much as possible.

Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience you may encounter, we are sure it will all be worth it in the end

.......Details (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204899).

i never thought it was a great idea to keep both of these sites on the same server. someone should seriously reconsider.

Guess it was doing good till more people moving to vBulletin from phpbb, ipb, SMF, ikonboard, punbb, etc...

Hopefully it won't be down for a long time if it happens.

Sorry but i can not disclose the server specifications. But it will be a more flexible and fault tolerant setup.

Also it is not only vb.com and vb.org, but all jelsoft controlled servers that will be moved. Some of the functions have already been moved in the past couple of weeks.

Unknown, but as I understand it, a "holding" page will be in place, the sites shouldn't just go off air completely.

Pretty good, I wonder why they moved, I would have expected VB and VB.org to have there own servers anyways, since they are such a massive company

They just upgraded servers I guess. I don't think they moved to a different place.

I wonder what the fear is in disclosing the server specs?

I was sent a secret email that has the specs.....

The sites are hosted on an overclocked XBox 360 with an expanded hard-drive. :D

Actually though many sites won't disclose the specs due to security concerns.

Along the lines of: if someone knows they're hosted on 3 rather than 4 servers, then they know how big a DDOS they have to plan??
